Speciality custom R/C helicoptor and full time job practicing and hoaning one's skills. Probably a few expensive crashes prior to becoming skilled enough to get in a full flight of trick skills, espically, the dead stick landing, no power, tricky and dangerous even on the real ones.

There has to be some custom gyros control built in to help stablize the model espically for the sideways dancing near ground level.

Go to one of the air shows put on every year. Some feature R/C flying or are put on by R/C clubs. Almost all will feature a helicoptor demo or two.

Some of the R/C aircraft now are flying with real jet engines.

Most of those Maneuvers were invented by Curtis Youngblood (from California i think) who was really the first person to really do this kind of flying.

he was world champ for a number of yers.

No special Gyro's really, most of this is pure skill and being able to switch your brain to the different modes of flight.

Curtis could do this type of flying with silky smooth precision and each maneuver would flow into the next - a real spectacle.

I can't even imagine being able to get that precise. I'm learning on an Avistar trainer, and that's hard enough to do. (to anyone looking to get involved in another hobby, if you've got the time and cash, give R/C flight a try. It's awesome :-))
