The Great Stairway Debate

I dont Have records so I cant prove this, perhaps some one with Led Zepplin 4 on vinal could play it in reverse and tell us if they hear it.
The story that got me into this is that it was a big thing in web design last semester towards the end, at least in my group.

Back when I was in 8th grade, me and my freind played Stairway to Heaven backwards.........heard some weird stuff,,, just enough to satisfy the curiosity of two 13 year olds.-Jeffrey

it's a fake, there's now ay "If" playe dbackwards can have an ending "N" sound for Satan, especially when the Human body can NOT produce the correct noise that when played backwards it sound like "n"

Beside sif it IS subliminal, how can the average Joe Stoner understand it enough to be able to tell what it says? I think if yes, someone who's up on Physcology and stuff listens to it and CONCENTRATES looking for osmehting, yes, they'll find something, play it backwards and find it even bigger! But you gotta be looking for it.

I have played many many albums backwards looking for so called "satanic messages" only thing I ever heard was well nonsense...I think that the people that come up with stuff like that want to hear that stuff so bad they actually do hear it...kind of like tellin a lie so much you believe it yourself...

Well, as a huge Zeppelin fan, I had to try this out myself. So I ripped an mp3 of Stairway to Heaven off my Led Zeppelin IV CD and played the verse backwards in goldwave. It sounded exactly like it does on that website linked above (I originally thought they may have embellished it a little).

Having said that, I have to think that the power of suggestion by having the words displayed in front of you might make it sound like he's saying those words more than he actually is. The first time I listened to my version without looking at the words I thought I could pick out "Satan", but the rest seemed like garbage. After listening to it again and looking at the words, everything seemed clearer.

Who knows, maybe when Led Zeppelin was recording Stairway to Heaven, they thought they'd play a little trick on everyone? Besides, the lyrics played forward don't make a whole lotta sense either :-)

Here's how I look at it:
The lyrics, when played foward, say that there are two paths you can go down, well lets say one is the Stairway to Heaven, what's the Second? The Laundry Chute to Hell? (or the Highway to Hell)
