Colleagues,

I went back to the initial announcement and read about the World Editor. It states that it will be possible to import SRTM data at a single click. I suppose SRTM is the standard around the world, but the new seamless data available now from seamless.usgs.gov is far superior to the old SRTM data.

In fact, there is some indication that in the near future seamless will be the only data available "free" so I have to wonder if KUJU plans any use of this data, or if enough information can be provided to John CS and his colleagues to allow a new release of DEMEX for the KUJU product.

And yes, they do mention making the "Depot" a seperate item. Seperate, but delivered with the simulation, or seperate but more money please?

Anything with this topic has had a history of being locked lately :) I just hope people can let this topic evolve on it's own without getting personal.

It seems the data from both Canada and USA even has differences as I'm not too familiar with seamless north of the border here. If anything I hope the importing of data is open ended to allow protocols such as that used on some GPS and mapping systems. I think one thing you'll find is that a world standard is either limited or does not exist other than they agree on the longitute and latitude numbers.

The seperate part of this equation is only feasable if it means delivering a strong product with limited bugs, and great support. I think those interested in creating content would be OK with the extra product if it is a sound product, with the proper support. A good example of where this works is Train Dispatcher 3 and it's companion program Track Builder 3. But the activities and scenerarios better be adaptable inside the main program or it's going to get boring real quick.

Thanks

Sean
