Looks at the very least to be a nice successor to MSTS. Water rendering looks good, although the water seems a little too transparent. Terrain sculpting looks improved over MSTS. Seems that we'll have better ability for terrain texturing. Track looks decent, although I imagine that we'll see someone craft a more realistic looking track like Scale Rail. Derailments included, and hopefully we can see more of the derailment that MSTS allows. Nice view of the working turntable.

All in all, I think we're about to finally see the retirement of MSTS. But I'd still like to see official screen captures and videos from Kuju.

Here is how I look at it.

Ill believe it when I see it. Im not going to get my hopes up for this new sim until the final product is released and when people start commenting on the sim.

Graphics are obviously better, but it looks like something has changed with the perspective. Has a less expansive feel than MSTS. Perspective looks more like Trainz and less like MSTS.

I don't see any turnouts.

I like the steam vid.

Might be on my list when it gets out. :)

Track looks decent.

I hope that the switches will have their blades open for the approaching trains and their texturing will be the same everywhere ! Compare the track the train is one with the one next to it !

What type of train is this, the cab window looking like that ?

Actually, I think it would be great if tracks could be textured differently.

One thing that I think some of you folks are over looking, is LOOK at what we started with when MSTS first came out...Look what we made of it...

When these new sims come out, I wonder what THEY will look like in 2 or 3 years??

Actually, I think it would be great if tracks could be textured differently.

I think that this is their intention, having wooden ties tracks next to concrete ones and also allow tracks with and without overhead wires in the same route !

UK Highspeed train. Everything just looks too low and wide in those clips.

They will have to do better than that !

This is the MSTS Just Trains version !

Good grief Otto - the video and pic's on the UK site are taken from a monitor at low res. You can't make those comparisons and have any definitive assumptions re the final product.

I'm amazed by the comments posted, by some, on the UK site as to what they are seeing.
There is better information in the report by Klaus to satisfy me that things are looking good for the new sim.
I reserve any major opinions regarding the sim until there is a finished product with in game screenshots officially published.

BTW - That bridge in the background would rip the bottom out of my car if I tried to cross it.
Cheers

lI have not taken a look at the video sections yet, but boy am I impressed with the smoke coming from that steamer and much more impressed with leaves on those trees. That is as close to real as I can ever imagine. If the other parts of the trains are as good as those tree leaves then we are in pig heaven. I really like Paddington Station--even though it is not identified, it looks just great. The bridge reflection in the water looks very good.

The river water looks much better than anything I've seen with MSTS. However, I have never found any river to be that blue and I have travel in over 50 countries. That looks like coastal ocean water to me, it is just to blue to be true for a river. I hope they can come up with a genuine greenish-brown mirky color that looks like a true river.

I don't see any overhead wire that the electric engines are connecting with.. wires must be a problem as with MSTS. I like the elevated track bed where the ballast looks more than three inches high, and the distant building shots look very good. I like the shade effect under the station platforms whereas the tracks are out in the direct sunlight and is illuminated. That looks very good.

I think people should concentrate on what we can see, rather than what we don't see.

Hey Otto,

Where can I find that track texture in that last shot of yours. I want to see how it would look on my route project.

Thanks,
