Hey all,

We have two new articles today - including some more screenshots! Check them out at www.railsimulator.com

It looks promising, but still closer to Trainz in appearance than MSTS (not that MSTS out of the box looks all that great). I'm thinking that with reskinners stepping up, we can get more photorealistic textures. Also, I see that, like MSTS Kuju still has a problem with making track that doesn't leave a ballast-free gap between two or more parallel tracks.

All-in-all, though, from what I've seen so far, I'd still lay money down for KRS.

I noticed that the German BR101 is going to be included in KRS. To any Northeast USA railfans out there: Is that what the NJ Transit ALP46 is based on? If so, we may have an easy time converting that to NJT paint, provided we can do something about the bumpers (alpha channel, perhaps?) Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Yes, AFAIK NJT's ALP46 are based on the BR101. Altho I don't think a BR101 would make a good base for reskinning an ALP46 - pantos are wrong, couplers are wrong, bogies are possibly wrong, etc..

I found the editor screen interesting. Didn't care for it's appearance that much but that's only a matter of taste. What could be an objective complaint is the means whereby the designer enters grade and/or super-elevation. It's hard to say if the screen will allow direct input of numbers. Failure to allow manually typed numbers / doing anything like the MSTS editor handles grades would be a terrible (ergonomic) mistake.

Having built two routes, each around 100 miles long, with very few tracks set at zero elevation, and fewer set at grades in increments of .150, I can say from experience there are far, far better ways to set grades than what MSTS did. Please don't repeat that mistake.
