Another vintage UK "pox-box" has been announced : http://www.virtual-rail.co.uk/krs014.pdf but still no info on any US content, only some poll!

A conspiracy theorist would be starting to think there is no US content :)

Uuuh, it has been said several times that there most likely won't be any US content in the initial release, but that an add-on featuring US content may very well be relased some time after (unless by that time the stupid idiots thinking the world revolves around the USA has long since managed to turn Kuju off wanting to make any US content for their sim whatsoever).

I disagree with your view that Kuju has anyplace indicated an add-on for US material. As far back as May 24 in an email to me from one of the leaders at Kuju, there is the statement "we’ve always seen Rail Simulator as a global product." I think that simply because Kuju has not started sharing info concerning any American content this does not mean that it will not be included with the initial release.

If you take time to notice any thing about MSTS you should realize that there are many people in Europe and elsewhere who are great fans of American railroads. Nalle of Sweeden is building the Feather River Route, and the Whitefish 7 has been the product of a Frenchman. I am sure there are more examples. American railroads provide something that most countries don't have--long trains, powerful engines, various climatic regions, and abundance of freight of all types. Freight is the main commodity in America, but passenger service is in almost all other parts of the world.

If Kuju includes American content with their original release then I suspect it will gain an additional 30% of sales in countries outside the United States. If they make American content as an add-on, then they stand to loose that 30% in addition to many American buyers who will not want to put out money twice to get what the majority of Europeans would be getting for half or somewhat less.

I feel Kuju is doing just fine and that we should be patient and let them work to include the American content.

It must be said though that even where passenger isn't the mainstay of US Railroads, where it does appear it looks very nice indeed, i'm thinking Super Chief and California Zephyr as examples. I had the pleasure of seeing a full HO model of the California Zephyr recently at a railway show here in the UK and it really is spectacular.

However, unless things have changed behind the scenes, the last information that was put out said that there would be 3 UK routes and 1 German route in-the-box. Whether they plan a different 'box' for the US release hasn't been said though, time will tell on that one.

They are/were.

They were withdrawn in the late 1970's and about 8 were purchased by preserved railways. Then in the late 1990's they were hired out as rescue locos. ie if a train broke down then they would be sent out to haul the broken down train to a suitable place.

Hope that helps.
