From the two links given it sure looks to me KRS will be or have the potential us MSTS'rs were hoping to see in a new title finally. One question I have, and I really don't know the answer to this is in the first piece (nicely done by Richard) it says KRS will be a Vista title. I haven't kept up with the info on Vista; does this mean KRS won't run on XP at all? Or will it mean it runs on XP but not as well; like what alot of flight simmers say about FSX? Or is the Vista thing a non-issue and not to be concerned with (except to run Vista itself).

Next question: In the second link the author mentions 3dstrudion max and I remember it's been said we can use 3d Canvas but my question can we still use Gmax to make models for KRS?

So there's no problem.

Looks like we aren't getting much for detail on switches so far:

It appears to me the rails are just crossed for right now. I hope they add more detail to them.

You must have a lot better eyes than I do. I can't begin to determine how sophisticated the switches are from the enlarged photos let alone the little one here.

Maybe there is more than meets the eye?

Here is a detailed view of switches taken from UK's York-Newcastle line:

It looks like they resolved the overlap issue with the switches.

I guess the bothersome thing about all this is that evidently RS will run on -XP, but also it is evident that to be up to snuff, so to speak, KUJU will have to target it at Vista. Likely this will mean a compilation that runs so-so on -XP but requires vista for all the bells and whistles.

When you consider that to get the max. out of RS is going to require a physics card (best price so far on that one is around $300) and now may require Vista as well at least to get the most "bang", I have to believe that MSTS is looking better all the time.

I recently looked into the requirements for VISTA and they are huge. Just to run it is going to require around 2G of memory, plus it will fill a large disk, and we don't yet have a price, or upgrade price for it yet. I have two machines running XP-Pro, including one old beast that I use as a file server and it's requirements are modest by comparison to VISTA.
