My turn to dig it up. Drew didnt go alone after all guys ;). I was right there on the first day (Portola to Roseville) before i had to head home. I only took one picture, and its identical to one of Drews, so i'll just post a few videos clips in .mov format to satisfy yall.

Turn up your speakers gents! If you liked the pic Drew took of the second prime mover being started up, you'll love the video of the first! Clips runs a bit, because you dont always know what people are going to do. Fast foward to about 20 seconds into the vid unless you like the sound of birds at 6am, and the very very faint sound of a fuel pump. (If you want video of the second prime mover starting up, just send me a PM or request in this thread.)

Ok, second up is well, i have no clue where, drew would probly remember. We just pulled off at a crossing somewhere and waited for it to show up. If you loved the pictures of the M5 you'll love the sound even more.

No trip over the father river canyon is complete without going over the famous Keddie Wye. Outside Oroville, the special got an Advanced approach and warnign they would be waiting at Keddie for a BNSF Manifest headed for the Gateway sub, but it was about 20 or so minutes away when they got to Keddie and waited on the red for a while. This has to be one of my all time favorites, features a sweet echo through the canyon of the M5, and the sound of sportscars on the highway about 25 feet away just as 6936 and the F-B-unit went under me.

Last but not least, in the middle of nowhere outside, well...crap i dont no where. We lost the train for about an hour and had absolutly no clue where it was, nothing on the scanner, and no sign of anything on the rails, until we came to this crossing, went to check it out and low and behold there was a headlight on the herizon. Alex (the guy in the white shirt?) Used his amazing telephoto lense and assured us it was in fact 6936 highballing down the valley. Drew is the skinny guy in the brown shirt running around like a chicken with its head cut off by the way ;).

Hope you enjoyed!

Jeffrey,

Two questions:

What type of Microphone were you using? The sounds is so clear.

Also, I have made a set of wav files of the unit starting up and have successfully set it up to "start" when I begin an activity with my SD40-T2. I was thinking about posting the wav files for others to try if they know what they are doing in the sms files. Do I have your permission?

Please send me an email to dc3man0@hotmail.com with more info, but in the meantime, you do have my permission to distribute the sound.
