"I hope you like them..."

YES!!! These are some of the best railroad photographs I have ever seen! Seriously, without overusing the superlative. Especially the first, the third, and the night/dawn/dusk shots of the yard blew me away.

Did you take these with a digital camera or a "traditional" one? And may I ask what manufacturer/model you used?

Anyway, thanks!!! Great pictures.

All of the pictures were taken with digital cameras. In 2001, I didn't
have my own camera yet, so I borrowed one from my highschool. In 2002,
I bought my own camera. These two cameras are almost identical: the
school's camera was a Olympus Camedia C2020, mine is a C2040, both
2.1 MPixels, the biggest difference between the two models is that
the 2020 still had a RS232 connector while the C2040 has a USB port.
I also have several normal cameras (mostly old Minoltas), but I haven't
used them in years...

The first picture is one of my favourites. It was taken at the open
house day at the Hamburg-Eidelstedt yard in 2001. On that day, the
weather changed every 5 minutes. Therefore, just a few minutes after
taking the above photo, I took this one:

(and I still regret that I set the resolution down to 640x480 for this
one, but the school only had an 8 MB memory card)

this was the transition between rain and sunshine:

and here are two more winter morning pics:

Outstanding photos, Peter. I can't decide which one I like best, but the twilight yard shots all look great, as does the long shot across the fields of the 140.
