Guys,
I took these two photos tonight, and sent them to rp.net. Before I know what they think, you tell me!

As railpictures.net will say,

1. Rejected: Bad lighting (shooting into the sun), Bad angle (Pole ubstructing view)

2. Rejected: Low nose light, bad lighting, bad angle

I personaly like the second shot. Nice backlit shadow type deal.

Railpictures must not like me. I've had near perfect shots on my Grandma's 3.5 MP cam, and they'll come up with the craziest crap. Such as: Low Detail, Grainy, or even too light!!?! I've seen shots like #1 on there, maybe they'll take it. Thanks for the kind words.

I've heard every excuse they have... Most are just stupid and they dont like how i point it out to them either.

I uploaded a depot shot once, right after one from someone elses got accepted, i got a "Bad motive" rejection. They got a "But u acepted this guys shot and its a depot... Bad motive my butt, yall just have bad screening skills" followed by another rejection and a "watch it" from the administrator.

Yeah, most of my night shots get bad motives. Like these ones got Bad Motive:

http://hrrc_7324.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=399446
http://hrrc_7324.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=399447
http://hrrc_7324.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=399448

And this one got a High Sun:

I understand reasonings like backlighting and poor image quality, but Bad Motive just doesn't really make too much sense to me.

That one with the "high sun", that looks sweet. I understand their reasonings to, but sometimes, I just do not get them. Heck, I liked all of the shots. :)
I just think that they are worried about getting a "bad reputation".

What I don't like about Railpictures is that they will accept a cruddy shot of some new SD70ACe but they'll axe a creatively composed shot for bad motive. Not to mention the fact that I got two viruses (One of which forced me to start over from scratch with my computer) while on RP. I don't even bother with them anymore, I just send my stuff to rrpicturearchives.net.

Hi,

Its ridiculous what RP.Net gets up to at times. They honestly must be an ego-crazy bunch of maniacs looking to make a quick buck with advertising. You go on there and theres what... 30 popups in one visit?

They say its a "big photography" place and everything yet the people go out, wait hours for trains in some cases, come back, submit them and get rejected for some made-up excuse. Then of course, the ones that do get accepted, the very good ones, all they get is a pat on the back and a few comments, while the admins relax, raking in the money from all that adveristing that give people viruses.

rrpicturearchives.net is a much better place to look at trains IMHO...

Yes, rrpictures is definately better to look at stuff. They seem to be much more organized with their pictures than railpictures. Also, whenever I go to railpictures, I spend hve of the time looking at all of the damn popups that pop up instead of just showing me the damn train picture!! x(

Evry1,
They both got rejected from the database for "Bad Motive." "Not the kind of material they like." To quote. I have just created an account a rrpicturearchives.net. That is my new home.

Love that bad motive crap...

Yeah, I must have a terrible reason for taking a picture of a train..,

Wyatt, your shots certainly have a mysetrious surral quality. I can see RP.net rejecting them, but I belive all photos have a niche, and a belonging somewhere...if not just for sheer documentation of an object.-Jeffrey

It's kind of obvious why those two were rejected, if they weren't, you'd have 3 times as many people as us complaining on why they were accepted and not others...

I would have to agree though, there are a lot that are excellent quality that do get rejected and on the same day, you'll see 10 more shots that are the same quality get accepted. It doesn't make too much sense.

Forunately I have a pop up blocker so I don't have to deal with all of the pop ups.

I wonder if they are related to Airliners.net; they are just as anal-retentive as RPictures!:+

ya, sorry to say, the quality of those photos arent the best. it's kind of grainy, the 1st photo has too much clutter, the pole to the left, and the subject, which is the train, is too far away. 2nd photo, is grainy looking, also, not enough lighting and it looks a little underexposed. You just have to try to learn what rp.net wants, and likes, trust me, i've been dealing with rp.net and all the rejected stuff for 3 years now, and i've learned the hard way, but it's made me a better photographer, but dont forget, just because the photos isnt accepted by rp.net doesnt mean it's a bad photo, photography much like beauty is in the eye of the beholder
