Just got back from the Eastern Shore Shops in Little Creek, Va to find the first Bay Coast engine being painted. ESHR lost the lease and BCR has taken over and will be repainting all the equipment in the future.

BCR 400 a GP15-1 that started life as Frisco 115 gets her stripeing masked off before a coat of dark blue is shot. The stripe will be white, with a baby blue pin stripe along the edge, and should be ready to send over to Cape Charles by the end of the week.

Outside the shop, a privatley owned S1 that once served a near by ALCOA plant awaits her turn in the paint booth.

In the yard, ESHR 2014 sits on a small srting of ESHR rollingstock.

The only remaining MRS1 owned by the ESHR sits dead in the weeds and rumor has it she will be restored to operating condition.

Back on home rail I spotted a freshly painted mother-slug set by the Yard office.

At NY, I catch P067 rolling in with Amtrak 76 on the point.

Shortly there after a set of empties led by SD70ACe 4835 departs west for Richmond.

All in all, this was a pretty good day. I'll try and get out to see the 400 in fresh paint some time in the week.

Yea it does. I was glad to see it parked in perfect light to shoot both sides. This same set has came in here a good 4 to 5 times and always managed to slip past me... not this time :)

Thanks Mike!

The ESHR has a few GP10's that will get the Bay Coast scheme. Those are kept over in Cape Charles and should be ferried over after the 400 is finished, along with a CR Boxcar that will be getting Bay Coast paint. One of them is in the dark blue scheme, the others well... A jerry-rigged half done BNSF job is on one, and the others are pretty well tagged still in their baby blue original paint.

FYI

That GP38, the 2014, is one of fifteen former PRSL units built in the late 1960's. The PRSL kept ten ( 2000-2009 ) while parent company, Penn Central kept the other five ( 2010-2014 ).
All were equipped with dual controls stands needed by the PRSL. The give-away is the extension of the front cab wall.

What's the story with the SNCF carriage?

You mean INCF? I've got no idea. One side of the car is Half Tuscan red and half Southern green, the other side is that yellow blue job in the pic. I've got no idea what they did to it, but its one of the more fugly cars i've seen on the property.

Nice pictures brings back memories I see the engine house has not changed. Most if not all of the passanger cars on the little creek side are privately owned that are being "restored" over time. Where's the NPBL love?
