The day started in Franklin, Va as Q446 departs to drop cars at a local Paper mill.

After this we arrived to the NCVA/CSX interchange at Boykins just as Ted got the train underway.

We moved ahead to Severn and caught the train swinging around the curve past the 3837

The train beat us across the first crossing, and while we waited ted made the following comments over the radio:

"Hey, it must be railfan day... well you boys had better try and keep up if you want pictures, cause im doing track speed all the way to ahoskie"

We beat them to the next crossing however, just before Conway.

Pulled off at Chris's house, another NCVA engineer

We waited 15 mins at George Depot, as ted struggled to keep the 3rd unit under power.

With the 3rd unit isilated, Ted gets the train to the Track speed of 25 through Rich Square

At Ahoskie, we find all the other power owned by the NCVA dead, and soon to be greeted with another 38 in need of repair

The GP7u was put back into service after 2 of the 38's failed to meet the call for duty, and rests on a spur near the office

That Conrail unit is a rare bird, excellent shots of her, looks like a rainbow of power on the NCVA, great photo ops though, well done!

Yea they have a nice line up of power. The GP9 i was after # 6244, is in purple and silver paint, but was shoved in a bad spot for photos... not to mention someone tagged it...

Appearently Railtex doesen't put much money toward loco repairs on any of the local roads(economics I guess). All the units on the C&A are dead and they had barrow a NPBL GP15-1 for the run yesterday. Nice pic of Suffolk was just there last weekend and caught V31 and a hopper train.

So thats why Gary Goodman (Head engineer) called and asked if I could get up there and chase...

Yea stuff appears to be dieing left and right. The Commonwealth CF7 #517 is now back in the plant, and the GP16 444 is working the road trains... Last I heard 444 had a blown cylender and the 517 has relay problems.

NCVA used to have a really good machanic, but im not sure if hes still with them or what.
