Now the whole train. The cars on the train were mining cars at one point.

Hey, that last one is a very nice little battery mule...hehe. What track guage were they using there? I keep meaning to get out there when I am east but the chance seems to keep eluding me. Those pics are pretty inspiring for a new route, have to do some very modified track sections though, possibly set up those timber sets as gantries. If you like this sort of thing (coal mines etc.) you should check out this link:

www.undergroundminers.com

They have a lot of cool pics of mining railroads, mines and equipment from Antracite country.

Thanks for the link Erik, its very interesting. I do find coal mines or any type of mines for that matter interesting. I know of an abandoned shaft mine in Hazelton, PA, its on the land now owned by Paragon, which is an off roading park for any type of velichle. Well in the one part of the place, there is an open shaft going into the side of the mountain, you can walk mabe 15 feet into it before the mine is fully flooded. Very interesting to say the least.

At the coal mine in Ashland, PA the track guage is 42"

I'm a miner my self currently and go figure that the mine is flooded. Some mines will do that just because of the ground water in the area and others do it just by slowly filling up over time. We are rehabing the mine I work in out here in Nevada and we pump out roughly 1 million gallons of water a month, all ground water and drainage from rainstorms and what have you coming down the vein from its outcropping on the mountain top.

Thanks for the track info btw.
