It seems that many railfans don't really know about the Long Island Railroad located on Long Island, NY! Our railroad has a huge history since the way late 1800s! At the time we used to be owned by the Pennsylvania RR! Anyway, the past 6 yrs has been interesting! We had gotten new fleets of m-7s and DE30AC and DE30DM. The M-7 is taking over for the electric trains and the DE30s have taken over the GP38s even though we still have them for freight serice which is mainly at night but not too busy! Here are a few pictures...!

Didn't the LIRR once own Fairbanks Morse CPA20-5s?

yes they did! they were nice but i wouldnt quite remember them that well cause i came into this world when we had the gp38s, m-1s and m-3s! But as for now, the LIRR is not going to purchase or create new locomotives for awhile becasue we have the de30's and the new m-7s which are both taking over!
the pic below is a cpa20-5

I fondly remember the LIRR as being M1s, GP38-2s, MP15s, and F Unit cab cars. My dad was born in Brooklyn NY, and moved to Lindenhust out on da' island in the early 60s. Growing up and going on family trips to NY always yeilded plenty of blue + white GP38-2s, blue striped M1s before the extra headlights were added, and MP15s could be found leading fast passenger expresses on the Montauk branch.

The shortline I volunteer at has several ex LIRR ping pong trailer cars. Here is a picture of one of the doors, left unpainted from the Gettysburg RR.-Jeffrey
