Ok,

Out of curiousity, is there any demand for a version of one of PRR's successful freight odities, the Q2 4-4-6-4 Duplex? Just curious.

Do I want a locomotive of nearly 8000hp?! Are you kidding?!! You shouldn't even have to ask, I'll take one on the spot! Add it to my order for the T-1 and the BP-20's.

I'm gonna have so much fun dragging Dash-9's around backwards with this thing!

yeah that would be awsome. i find these things interesting, the different number of driving wheels for the different cylinders. the wheel arrangement is the same thing as the last four digits as my phone # (4-4-6-4. but i didn't think these engines were that successful, or was that the 4-4-4-4, hmmmmmm............

On the success notes,

The Q2 was the more successful of the two, as unlike the T-1's issues with violent slippage within the front set of four drivers, the builders at altoona found a cure in the form of electronic antislip, which would decrease power from the slipping wheels.

The T-1, whose design was created specifically for Passenger and later mail and express trains, could possibly have been cured if the units had featured this stystem to begin with.

The Q2, was the freight counterpart. More of a 2-10-4 with its drivers split into two groups, the lead one a grouping of four, and the second a set of six, featured smaller 67" Drivers that gave decent power output for muscling heavy freights.

While successful in their own right, the onslaught of Dieselization, and the uniqueness of the design, plus the combination of the limited operating locations that could handle this behemoth, quickly placed the writing on the wall.

All the Q2's built between 1945 and 1948, were stored and scrapped by 1952.

Depending upon who you ask, the T1 was a successful design. Reportedly, the troubles began when the union guys discovered that a single crew on a single T1 would take the place of a pair of crews on a pair of K4s locomotives.

Ok guys,

Just a slight tip off. Keep an eye on the Locomotive Design forums for the next day or two... There "Might" be a little surprise there...

I want 2 or 3 of them. Just out of curosity is there a 6-8-6 turbine or a new model of the PRR S-2 Steam Turbine?

Let me see there was the

T-1
Q-1
Q-2
S-1
S-2
the 6-8-6 #6200

Ok what did I miss out of these unique locomotives?

Ps Was there ever a T-2?

of course. I truly am not a huge pennsy fan but I love odd and extreme steam locomotives so put me in for one.

A Q2 would look fantastic on the Panhandle.

Don't know if it would help but I have a PRRTHS article from the Keystone about the Q with lots of technical info, etc.

To answer your question, YES YES YES...

Thomas,

Can we expect anything in the form of PRR motive power in the near future.

I just looked over Angers old posts and the Q looked FANTASTIC.

I don't know if you are picking up where he left off or starting from scratch but I can tell you I was VERY interested in that project as well as the Big Six.

We had a few teases of the T1 a while back.

Is she still in the shops being manufactured and tested?

Rick,

There may be some forms of PRR Motive power in the future out of me, along with some other passenger cars. Unfortunately, the T-1 is still sitting in the backshops awaiting texturing to be finished along with fixing of the animations and such.

There's alot of other equipment still being worked on as well, far too much to go over, and also some still marked under my classified projects folders. So there is a good possibility that more PRR equipment will be released in the future here.

With the Q2, I made a valiant attempt at it, but I will take any copies of technical data I can get so as to learn more about it.
