Has anybody tried to make any of these units? I think it would be cool to have some of these

hmmm... I possibly can take a wack at it, but don't count on me doing the entire thing, I am not good with the truck and wheels.

Shawn, I think that maybe I could try the trucks. ;)
I have a good idea of how to do them.

IS that thing sitting on the ground or on the hidden tracks? It looks it's sitting on the ground with no tracks to me. :+

I think its an SD39 or SD40 converted in a sorta switcher thing with a lowered hood and switcher cab.

I believe they cut SD9's down to the frame and built up judging by the split fuel tank and trucks on it.

no these aren't rebuilt SD38s/SD40s, they are actually cut down SD9s. What a waste of a beautiful locomotive if you ask me. Sorry, I'm a big first generation six axle EMDs. But yeah these were SD9's that were cut down to the sub-frame (steel plates over the main frame that the walkways, hood etc. were attached to) and they put on new hoods and a cab to control the master locomotive. The way to tell that these were SD9s/SD7s are the trucks, and the air tanks one over the other in front of the fuel tank, which is probably full of sand or scrap metal on slugs to provide extra tractive effort. just wanted to clear this up.

What does that look like?

Anyway, that thing looks unusually unusual!

>What does that look like?

Like that thing I guess. :+ There is no such thing as an SDW1500. What I meant was that it looked like an SW with 6 axles, hence an SW/SD smashed together, or a really bad kitbash in modeling terms. :D
