I was curious if there was any plans to release a MLW set of BC Rail locomotives. Especially the M630 with the Wide cab. I'd also like to see some of the green ones as well. Thank you,

Kenny

Currently Jans page is down. The error came up in German, but I translated it to.

Hello, due to umgünstiger circumstances of disbursement of means of publicity and payment of the server calculations as well as my personal situation it was unfortunately not possible to settle the calculations of the servers in the correct time window since the appropriate currencies are available only on Monday. For this reason the web pages are unfortunately not attainable at present, since the servers are closed straight.

IOW he wasn't able to pay the website he uses to host his page. I also sounds like the website cerver is also down... But to my knowledge, Jan never created an M630W. I was on the web site a few day ago, and I can't recall seeing one. I'd personally love to see an M630W myself.

That is a shame that his website is down. The BC Rail is a fallen flag that needs to be raised again even if only in the model world. Where else could you see MSTS style consists in reality with large blocks of like cars and mostly just lumber. The sense of purpose with this railroad was what drew me to it. It's a shame we don't even have a route to run on. I'm not holding my breath for the one in progress to get done. We need to light the fire under MLT or Streamlines to build one and develop some authentic stock and locomotives and packs so people can model ever era. In fact... would be nice if payware builders did that for every route developed.

While we're on the BC Rail Topic How About a Dash9 on MLT's model in Dark Blue and the Blue Red and White Scheme (And Yes I Know there's NALW Versions in the F/L).

NALW's model is nice that it is painted up in BC, but it would be nice to get one that is painted with the 4 windows. Wasn't there an C44-9WL in CN colors that could be repainted to match a BCR unit?

That looks really nice. I like how the ditch lights are placed on the nose itself.

also note the blank outs below the existing ditchlights. BCRail equipped their locomotives with two sets of ditch lights on their locomotives. one pair (usually the lower set) was pointing directly foward. the other pair (usually the higher set) was facing at about 5 degrees inwards creating the familiar 'x' shape that ditch lights were created for. one basically one set illuminated the tracks ahead while the other pair lit up the area around the track, or down the track as the locomotive nosed into a curve. the below picture shows BCRails set up. althoug the lower set is in a different position, it shows the point.

BCRail did this eventually to all of their locomotives. Everything from the RS18s through their C44-9WLs were eventually equipped with these ditch lights.

I had completely forgotten that they did that. Why did the Mexican version have the bottom one's blanked out?

no need for the extra headlights. more parts to have to take care of. cost money to burn those headlights... but i think it was primarily because they had no use for the etra headlights. they don't have the hilly, twisting, turning track pofile that BCRail had to deal with.

That's true... Didn't even think about that one. I wish I had the hilly, twisting, turns to run on right now. I should ask this. Do you know of any existing routes in the library that might by comparable to the BC Rail lines that could be used as a stand in? It just blows that there hasn't been one made even to this later date.

well there really is nothing that's like the BCRail. That was some trueley amazing and rugged terrain. I think the main gradient was 2.4%. could be worse though. I think the closest thing you will ever find that's somewhat similar to the BCR is the Rocky Mountain Division Sub. That has some pretty squirrley sections of line much like the BCR. Also like the BCR, it's electrified. But then agin, there are no models of a GF6C out there. Maybe one day we can hope the Maple Leaf Tracks or Streamlines or someone out there will make the route.
