Hello,
I have been teaching myself Gmax over the last month or two. I've succesfully built myself some new, decent-looking signals and some marker objects. I still haven't figured out (easy) texture mapping though...
The tutorials that came with it are all I've used. Have you gone through those?

Not yet,I downloaded Gmax from turbosquid and realized the tutorial/help was a seperate download.I havent had a whole lot of time to do anything lately ,but when i find my turbosquid account info ,Ill download the tutorials and give it a shot.About all i want to do is some customized whistleposts, milemarkers, and street signs.
I sure thank you guys for your help.

In my experance simple and Gmax are on different planets. Try Google Sketchup "The new 3D sensation that's sweaping the MSTS Nation !"

Click on Sketchup in the left window, there is a link to download Sketchup and Paul "Decapod" Gausden's latest version of his MSTS plugin for it.
After going through the tutorials you could have a finished sign ready to place on your route in 30 minuts or less. 14 hours of work can yield something like this.

The bridges, endpiers and pier were all created with Sketchup and converted to shape files with Paul's plugin.

You aint lyin about GMAX and simple lol. I downloaded Sketchup and watched the tutorials and had a couple of signs done in no time (see the southern railway sign post). If GMAX was as easy to use like Sketchup is, then it would really be useful. The only problem with sketchup is the lack of animation, but im not that advanced yet. Thanks for the suggestion.

Count me as a believer in Sketchup...but I will still use GMax as well
I'm still having problems with the way Sketchup tiles textures and trying to manipulate them.
Try this URL http://www.worldoftrainz.com/Pages/Tutorials.htm#TRS2006
It deals with Trainz but it has helped me with GMax
