I realized that i had not provided a picture of the platform light I'm yalking about. I have appended it to this note. If I've posted it to the wrong forum, please let me know and I will move it. The pic is from Triumph V.

Having just seen some of these lamps, I can say they are whatever color one has on hand. Black seems to be the normal color. Ive seen some that are beige out on the Middle Division.

One colleague has created an autocad version of the lamp which is in.dwf file format. If someone can open it in AutoCAD, could it saved in as something that could be opened in 3DCP so that the designer could complete the model? If some one can do this, I'll email the file to him or her. I have attached a jpg of this lamp which the designer came up with. Maia

I have a copy of ACAD R13 that I bought when I was in college. I beleive *.dxf files can be imported to 3DCanvas and Sketchup.

How backwards compateable is it.

If it's any help, Gmax can import 3DS, PRJ, DEF, and SHP files.

So if someone were to convert it to one of those, but not feel like messing with it, I would be up for it.

Question.. does any one know how to create a a night texcture for this lamp, or how to adjust a prexisting night texture or any texture, that will create a circle of light on the ground at night for this lamp? Maia

If it's over a platform, you can make a night texture for the platform with the circle of light where it needs to be.

You could ask the builder of the lamp to add in some poly's at the bottom, and have those as the lamp light.

Nice work Hank! Will this be finding its way into the file library in the future? It's one of those prototype details we never seem to have enough of. ;)
