Sniper put together a tutorial on static trains a while back; some one even created some static rolling stock (passenger cars I think) which are in the file library. It does not take a genius to place individual cars and trucks in parking lots on a route, but the process gets old fast. Does any one know whether some one has created a static plot of cars so that one could install 30 cars (let's say) in a parking lot (with one s and sd file) like one can do with groups of buildings or people like DIDI 2004 has done? It would be easy, if you had the source files. Perhaps the creators of the vehicles in the library will either whip one up for you, or share their source files with someone who would create it.

I have 3 blocks of cars made from those cars that Frank made up after me showing him your post.
I haven't had a chance to add them to my site yet but the zip is a small file (344kb) if you're interested.

Hawk,
I am sure a lot of route authors - niclusing myself - would be very interested in a number of car blocks. In order to avoid MSTS loading and memory issues, we are forced to leave most or all those parking lots along our routes deserted. Just five or six lonely cars spread on them don't look good either, so something like car blocks with three or four of which we could fill a lot with 40 to 50 cars would fill a painful gap among MSTS scenery objects!

I played with this the other day. IIRC, I had a dozen or so cars (for lack of a better word... funny looking boxes that vaguely resembled Prius's)... on a small lot. The whole thing came to just over 1000 poly's. 'Course if I deleted some of the detail (lights, center line, roof line, etc) and just skinned them, the count would probably be a third less.
Unfortunately it fell to near bottom of my priority list. If I find a free moment I'll resurrect it.
Have a sparkling day,
Bob

Whatever happened to Ted Curphey? I havent heard from him in a while. He was working on some more cars I thought? Maybee someone could drop him a line and see if he can line up some of his cars for parking lots. His car is the best for MSTS. Most of the other photoskinned cars are forign cars.
