Turn of the century passenger station.
The draftsman’s title block is dated… Oct 25, 1913.

Have a sparkling evening,

Meriden Rick.

However, Wallingford was similar in appearance although smaller in stature. Phil had forwarded archival drawings of several different facilities. Once again, many thanx to Phil.

I suspect that these single sheets, were originally done for ‘inventory’ purposes. They are usually numbered 1 of 2. However, with no actual construction details and often contain just basic information... such as square footage, platform size, cubic capacity, type of heat, type of light (elec/gas), finishes, cost data, etc. Unfortunately not all of the data is filled in… dollars and construction comments are missing. They were all drawn within a few weeks of one another by two draftsmen (J.J.R. and G.A.Q.) in late 1913.

As the structure are heavily Victorian in style, I presume that they where built in the mid/late 1800’s.

Have a sparkling day,
Bob

Ah, well. 50-50 chance (I knew it was one of the two and not Berlin or Windsor). Great start!!

...and so it goes.

I may reduce the platform from 500' (already less than the original 600')to something in the order of 250'. The poly count is in excess of a grand (platform extension as a side maybe).

Toodles,
Bob

It's altogether possible that the New Haven shortened the platform shed over time. IIRC they did this at several stations on the Main Line and the Shore Line. I have no photographic proof they did so at Meriden, but it would not be implausible. Most probably, the roofs over the entrance steps were a casualty, as well. That said, the model is outstanding, even at this early stage... -Phil

Well… this has been a tricky one, but we’re getting there. It chimes in at 1366 poly’s as is (with 500ft platform).

Have a sparkling day,
Bob
