Hi all

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a detailed explanative tutorial on how to texture models for MSTS. I have a very good past background in drafting but unfortunately its with a drafting table and T-squares and protractors. CAD was only just coming out and texturing was in its infancy. I am using Train Sim Modeler for all my build work. I have both PhotoShop and Paintshop Pro, and prefer to work with PhotoShop. I am fairly profficient with Photoshop although I am still learning all the time. I have the whole manual for the program so what I don't know I can look up and find out. My biggest problem is with getting the two to work together for me. I can create great textures and great models, but just can't seem to put the two together. Textures are created either by pixel size or of course by specific dimensions. I end up with texures that are incorrectly placed on the piece or badly out of scale, makes me want to rip my hair out! So far, I have been lucky because all my parts are one solid color, now however, I have some lattice and brick work to do, and my luck has run out. I did some rivit textures that worked superbly but only by complete fluke did they work out correctly on the model, I have no idea why they did :D
If anyone is aware of any such tutorial, please point me in the right direction. I have benefited so much from others work and would now like to contribute at least something to it of my own for others to enjoy.

Thanks and cheers,
High Iron

Hmmmm… and people use to look at me like I just stepped of a spaceship when I mentioned that I had an 'electric eraser'.

Thad, take a peek here, maybe something your looking for….

Thank you Bob. Although I'll have to spend a while looking over the tutorial which I printed off, it so far looks like perhaps what I'm looking for. Oddly, I have the "steam4me" saved in my browsers "favorites" folder and have gone there frequently, but never noticed they had tutorials on such things. Sooo much to learn!

BTW I too can sadly say I remember the electric erasers, although I never owned one, I was drafting on the cusp of CAD. Platinum Blonde was the rage and I "thought" I looked cool in my Loverboy 86 North American Tour T-shirt...:o . By the looks of my styles, my mother defintely swore I came off a spaceship.:D

I also notice on your banner a 2006 Volvo is it? Do you drive long haul? I did it for several years in a 2005 Kenworth T-800 Aerocab all tricked out, now I drive for the same company doing city work only till I get on track with my long term carreer path.

Phil… I last saw it when in Haddam, but two moves in sight of a couple of years… it’s amongst the missing. Along with a bunch of others things I can’t seem to find anymore. I think someone, who shall remain nameless, stole off to the dump while I was out of town.

Thad… 2K-770, fiberglass drive fenders, dinette, fridge, microwave, running water, TV/DVD, Sirius & XM, 10 disc CD, 9 speaker Stereo… home away from home.

Have a sparkling evening,
Bob
