If any of you have been reading the KUJU forum lately, you will know that KUJU will not supply a converter for converting MSTS objects to KUJU objects. They gave me two reasons. One is legal issues with MS if they provided such a thing as payware, i.e. as part of the simulator or as a payware add-on. The other reason was that they felt that such a conversion would produce an object that was inferior to one produced from scratch for the KUJU simulator.

A problem I have with that, is that Those of us who do routes and elect to switch to the new toys (expect out in early 2007, they tell me) could get a route out much quicker and more complete if a conversion tool was available.

So the question I have refers to the current situation. Has anybody developed documentation about what the various items in a .s/.sd file mean, and is anybody masochistic enough to be thinking about a freeware translator. KUJU indicates that, as with things we do with MSTS, freeware would not pose a problem and they don't think a converter would be hard to produce.

While unfortuanate, as long as they come up with a way to convert TSM objects into KRS format then there will likely be a large library of route objects to use shortly after the release of the sim.

I would go along with a patch or upgrade to allow TSModeler to export to the KRS sim. It would save a lot of time in not having to learn to use another modeling program and having to create everything from scratch again.

Most of us have the original object files that can be quickly upgraded to a higher quality object. Also, if the 3500 poly limit is not there, more detailed structures cam be made which will make placement easier.

That would allow for a large library of objects to become available thus promoting their sales and reducing their programming cost for the product.
