I've searched and searched, and found lots of posts that go something like this...
"I just converted the sketchup textures to jpg, and then changed them into .ace files - its great!"
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to convert the sketckup .skm files to jpg. Aceit! does not recognize the .skm format, neither does WinAce. PaintShop Pro will not open them either.
Can anyone shed a little light on this?
Thanks,
Jeff

I use sketchup for all the models i make. More than likely they are refering to the picture files. I think its better to use bitmaps and then convert them to ace files because when you convert from bitmap to jpeg it can distort your pictures a little depending on which program you use. The distortion really shows up in jpegs when you add an alpha layer, espescially with tgatools when you pick the alpha color, the distortion will show up like little specks. I sure hope this helps.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem, I made some really nice models for my Boston and Maint route but can't figure out how to convert the skm files to make them work in MSTS. I'll be checking back to see if someone has an answer that I can understand.
Thank's,
Tony

Seems to me that someone figured out how to do this, and I’m fairly certain I even saw a posting on it, but don’t ask me when, where or how…
But, not all is lost. You can cheat!! It’s a bit work intensive… but it works…
-At toolbar, select VIEW/TOOLBARS/VIEWS, this brings six views of building icons… front, back, side, side. plan (roof), angle. You’ll see why shortly.
-Create a flat square (key word SQUARE) on the red/green (ground) plane.
-Click ‘Paint Bucket’, select category, select desired texture element… apply to the flat plane.
-On flat plane, right click, texture/position/adjust pins to the four corners of the square.
-At toolbar select plan (roof) view. ‘Image appears center and square in screen’ (do not move in any direction).
-Select FILE/EXPORT/2D GRAPHIC… New window… save as (filename).BMP…EXPORT to desktop/workspace
-OPEN bitmap with your favorite paint/photo utility/suite and cut/paste and resize square texture image only ((128/256/512), save.
-Create ACE file from the new bitmap (Makeace/TGATOOL2)

I think it ’s all there, have a sparkling evening,
