I've been playing with sketchup for the past few days and camelup with a trech that I'm using for my version of the Alameda Corridor. I'm not going to release the route since I've been using the ATSF Cajon Pass route.

Hear's a quick shot of the trench...Nothing fancy.

That trench sure looks like the one that just opened out in Reno, Nevada on the route over Donner Pass.

Good work.

Go ahead and Release it, just don't charge money for it. You might have to work out a way to rename it so it doesn't clash with existing installations.

Brian,
It sounds like you hesitate releasing your route do to comparison with the freeware Cajon Pass route. In that case it might take you a few more years to where it might be comparable since that route has taken years to develop. If that is your reason, just realize there are many routes that will not compare with the detail of the Cajon Pass freeware. Some people like a lot of scenery details to make a route look more "realistic." Actually, it is the detail in the track that is most important for being realistic. For providing good frame rates, we don't need a lot of things that will slow down the frame rates. Not everyone has a high end computer just off the shelf.

If people want all the buildings, fences, telephone poles, and everything else--let them add the details they want. Just release your route to where you are satisifed with it--you don't have to please others; just yourself.
