I need some help. I did some searching around and havent found anything that directly answers my question about this.

I downloaded all of the files, and fixes for the Marias Pass V3.1 and went through all the steps. BUT, when I go to play MSTS, click on the icon, it starts to load, then the screen goes black and dissapeers, going back to my desktop.

Whats the problem here?

Been a long time since I installed MP3.1, but I seem to recall this install caused some problems for others. My suggestion is to reread the Read Me and follow the installation instructions EXACTLY when reinstalling the route. I seem to recall, from my own experience with this route, that missing any item will cause the install to fail. Also, be sure to check whether the route requires X tracks, New Roads or other add-on and whether you have any that are needed installed.

Could you be more specific about WHAT worked? After loading the Marias Pass 3.1 and the 3 fixes exactly as documented, I was still getting a software crash during the MSTS loading screen. Not an MP route screen, but earlier, before any menus appeared. There were approximately 22 status dots displayed across the bottom of the screen when MSTS crashed and it felt the need to report the error to Microsoft.

So I read the posts in this topic, deleted everything related to MP31, and I reloaded. Same problem. Nothing changed, and I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions exactly. Still crashing, at what seemed like the same instant.

So I loaded Xtracks, and then everything worked. Note that the revised installation files for MP3.1 indicate that Xtracks is no longer required for MP3.1. But it did seem to solve the problem in my case.
