Is it possible to use scale rail on the defaul MSTS routes? If so, how?

If you go and replace each and every section of track within the routes with ScaleRail sections.

I am probably totally wrong, but i believe you can swap the .s ( shape ) files over from default to scalerail, using the Route Riter utility.

I have converted routes using route riter with excellant results, however one big problem with the default routes is that they all use dynamic track which is not visually compatable with Scale Rail and is a PITA the replace.

There was a program, I think called Dynatrack? that would try and replace dynamic track sections. I've never tried this program, but from what I've read could be useful when converting to scale rail.
