Greetings,
I was playing around with these locos today; got rid of the errors and fixed the brackets. They work fine with bin, as far as I know, that except when I turn on the headlight, the sim freezes. I uninstalled bin, just to make sure, and no problems.
I have no idea how to correct this.
Has anyone else run into a similar situation? Any suggestions how to fix this?
Regards,
Son

Yes, I have this problem with an articulated narrow-gauge locomotive, and I am not surprised. Apparently a problem with some other things too, like a snowplow. Too lazy/busy to fix my problems yet, but maybe this will give you some ideas:

EDIT: PS--I wonder if anyone out there has experimented with lights on all articulated steam locomotives, which use 3 files (A + B + Tender, rather than just Loco + Tender). It would seem like a case similar to shoving the Russell snowplow with lights. At least my narrow-gauge Uintah 2-6-6-2 freezes the game when you switch on the headlights with Bin.

I've got a SV250, that I scaled up to reg gauge and it's running just fine . It's got firebox flicker and smoke stack glow and sparks also besides the headlight and it runs fine . When I installed the bin update to version 1.6.102213 I had the same problem . Seems the uninstall of the first version wasn't complete . I uninstalled bin completely and manually removed the files that the uninstaller forgot , then installed the 102213 version and everything has been OK since . I run a lot of steam - BigBoys , Challengers and Mallets . No problems - touch wood .

Thanks for your input.
The Sumpters' 2 eng files both have lights so I guess that's what bin doesn't like. Guess I'll wait to see if it gets corrected in a future release.

Why not take the lights out of the front piece ( a wagon file ) and put them in the second piece ( an engine file ) , then change the placement of the light .
By the way - did you try the first version of BIN rather than the second version ? I never had trouble at all with the first version that I installed , only when I upgraded .
Just a thought !

Rod,
But doesn't that negate the whole point? I mean, it isn't like rolling back to old video drivers to help along old MSTS code. It is supposed to be an improvement!

Like I said - - I'm using the newest version now with no problems so I know it works if installed without any of the former version there. Obviously you have an install problem somewheres so if you can't find the problem I just suggested a secondary solution .
By the way - - I still have the headlite in the first part of SV250 , which is a wagon rather than an engine . The rest of the lights are in the second part .
