Hey all!
I know I saw it somewhere, but I can't seem to find a search for it...when using the recent Bin 1.6, and coupling into loose consist locos and changing cabs to the loose consist loco, I get the "out of fuel" nag and the activity ends. I know I saw something posted to add to the .eng file to correct this problem, but can't seem to find it. Any ideas?

Is this what your looking for. I can't find the original thread but found a reference to the fuel variables line.

Exerp from a post:

For the diesels it's just above the EngineControllers line:

EngineVariables( 3600 )

If that line is missing you get the "ran out of gas" message when you change cabs to whichever engine don't have that line.

Glad I could help. I knew which section of the forums it was in but actually had to scroll thru the quite a few threads to find it, so your senility is only a shade ahead of mine. Now where did i put that mouse???!?

It's not a bin problem, it's a problem with your engine files not being set up correctly, and is easily fixed.

I would rather see the next version of BIN work on things that are actually broken in MSTS (like front couplers were before BIN came out).

i know it not a bug but what i'm saying is they should fix that fuel thing to all the engines like they did on the cabs and cupler thing. i hate to go to every engine file and fix it like that.

Apples and oranges.

Cabs (assuming you mean reverse cabs and swapping cabs) was a brand new feature introduced by BIN.

Couplers was a problem in MSTS fixed by BIN. Modifications to the coupler section of the .eng and .wag files were done by OttoDad and the donation-ware version of Route-Riter without any involvement by BIN.

Fuel line is similar, in that the .eng files need to be fixed, not anything with MSTS.

BTW, if you want to automate the process, you should be able to do it at one shot with the donation-ware version of Route-Riter: http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsim/Route_Riter/fixing_stock.html or possibly EngMod or TS-Fast Fix.

Even though I am not using MSTSbin, I did a check of all engines and found that over 50% of them do not have the EngineVariables( ) line in them. These include both the default stuff that came with the SIM and payware locos.
