All,

Again, what a great new life BIN has created for MSTS. The ability to run trains with AIs around on very (previously) troublesome routes with all the sliders up is just awesome.

Now to my point: I really enjoy using and watching the 3rd F5 screen that gives all of the physics and braking info about the train. The problem is that I am ALWAYS using raildriver. So, as soon as you go to the 3rd F5 data screen, it turns off the red HUD in the right corner.....uh oh, RailDriver is not happy about that, so it keeps sending F5 signals until it sees its HUD again and turns off the "new" screen of data.

Could George make it so that there is a toggle of F5 that keeps the original HUD up while having the "new" version up as well? I know that is a lot of info on the screen, but it is the only way to be able to use the new screen with RailDriver.

Also, related to the HUD, would there be a way to add a line to the original HUD to show the AUX Reservoir pressure of the last car of the train. This would be like having the FRED information in the cab that shows what the train pipe pressure is at the end of the train. Unfortunately, based upon what I have been viewing with the new screen, the train pipe gets to 90 lbs way before all of the reservoirs are full. This means that your train is not truly full of air yet. If that last car's aux reservoir could be added to the original HUD after the last line (so it does not cause RailDriver any trouble), then you would know when the entire train is fully charged with air. This is important for mountain railroading :-)

Good request Bryce. That rear car info is very important to us RWers as we use that Mary to tell us how much braking we have back there. Even better would be a way to add it to the incab Mary as well. She's been to quiet and static for too long. Also if we could get her to show when the rear car is moving and when the red light comes on as well. Oh and the most important thing a working footage counter too.

Bill,

You have a counter now! Go to the "new" screen by pressing F5 3 times. Press Ctrl and the 6 key on the number pad. This will reset the meter and timer on that screen several lines down on the right hand column. It is in meters, but still works. You just have to do a test run past something to see how long your train is. Then reset as required to see when your rear clears.

You can also tell when the rear is moving by watching the last car velocity on that screen.

This is why I want to be able to have it up while using RailDriver....it gives alot of detail.

Thanks for your efforts.....I have another unrelated question for you since you are apparently a Rail, but I will start another thread to not confuse this one.

It'd be nice to get the length translated into feet as well as being able to input a total footage length and have it countdown as with the real thing. It could even have that annoying doooo-deeeeep sound when it reaches zero as on the GEs.

Hi Bryce !

The problem with showing all 3 parts of the the MSTSBin F5 HUD is knowing which screen resolution a MSTS player is using.

I do not like anything higher than 1024x768, can't read MSTS text displayed on my son's Apple 1920x1200 monitor and doubt whether the RAILDRIVER could read it ! :-(

At 1024x768 all three parts of the HUD showing would fill the screen, which is not very practical ! ;-)

Ah, I had not thought of that since I always have my resolution maxed...not sure what it is, but they would all fit. I wonder if another toggle of the F5 could be added that would have all 3, and then if someone did not want it, they could press it a 4th time to get just the "new" screen. I would absolutely love to have that up with RailDriver.

I'm sure that once Bin has the major issues resolved he probably has the skill to have this info inserted into the cab readouts. With proper digital readout and placement on the Mary unit they could be added. If there are already buttons that will activate and start the info, then maybe he can get them added to the cab info. The rear car moving could be worked in were a value other then zero would cause mary to show the green moving light and a zero value would cause the red stopped light to display. Maybe when his plate empties a little, if it ever does with MSTS, he may code these values and infor into the cab file.
