MSTS Patch

Anyone else get an error like this???

I ran both of the files to see if one or the other would work but they didn't
Patch 1.6.122319
Patch 1.6.122319XP

And when I run the one or the other it gets almost done and then I get that error

Any ideas???

Did you install the MSTS update 1.2 or 1.4 from M$TS website?

On my system, I find it necessary to re-install the official MSTS 1.2 update every time I uninstall a previous version of MSTS Bin. If I don't, I get the message referred to above.

Train Simulator Update (Version 1.2)
[April 2002]
An update for Microsoft Train Simulator is now available for download. This update of Microsoft Train Simulator addresses several issues. There is also a separate Tools update that includes updated versions of Conv3ds and MakeAce, and updated technical documentation for creating cabs and converting shapes and textures to a format that can be used in Train Simulator.

These two updates were previously available for download in one combined download; we have separated them to make the download smaller for customers who do not use the tools. We also decreased the file size of the tools documentation. No other changes have been made to the update; if you previously installed the Train Simulator update, you do not need to install this version.

But I cant seem to find 1.4???? Is there a way to check what update you already did before you try and update this???

Yup, Right click on your desktop icon and scroll down to properties, In the General tab on Properties, You should see what version of MSTS you have installed. I think the patch 1.4 is the one with the SD40.2 updates.

Well I did what ya said but it dont show that version it is...As you can see by the pic

Any other place to look to see what version is installed???

That is the shortcut to the exe file. Go to your Train Simulator folder and check the train.exe file there.

While you are in there check the folder structure and if there is one called MSTSBIN_BACKUP delete it.

It doesn't show the version 1.2 either. You might have to re-apply the patch and reboot. It should show what version right there. That might work.

Aight this is what I got in that folder is the backup thing called _BACKUP_...And I clicked on what ya said to see what version it is and this is what came up:

MSTS patch...there was only one version of a patch put out by Microsoft....it in effect is version 1.2. Somewhere in there instructions it talks about 1.4 which must have been either a typo or a missing mind thought on the part of who ever was putting the patch out. There was never a 1.4 patch.

The Train.exe 1.4 which is part or the Trains Simulator 1.2 Update has a December 2001 date and if present in the TRAIN SIMULATOR folder and there is no MSTSBIN_BACKUP folder in it will install MSTSBin 1.6.122319XP !

You can verify the version of any Train.exe by clicking on File Version in the Other version information windows shown in your screen shots !

Well, yes there really is. If you right-click on what you believe to be the 1.2 patch and check its properties, you find out that it's really v1.4.
