...than that ridiculous stuff in MSTS?

I haven't seen any screenshots, anyone have any?
If you want to see catenary what is catenary, get "Birmingham X-City South" for BVE.

Hi Gregor !

I sure hope that MSTS-X is going to look heaps better than that and at least as good as these scenes from the BVE-4 UK Birmingham Cross route ! ;-)

Dunno if you've noticed the KRS screen shots but the last one I saw showed the overhead wire as being curved. Not the line of poles mind you but the wire over the track. Same radius.

No, I don't recall seeing any KRS screenshots with catenary, but if it follows the track radius like MSTS, I'll scratch it off my list (and hope that Microsoft does better).

I poked around their site but didn't see any shots with catenary. Do you have a link?

Thanks,

Some were posted in forums, guys taking pictures from monitors running KRS at the LEIPZIG show, which were not very impressive to say the least !

Here is a thread which has a link to one web site
http://www.clubskill.com/gamepage/2235
which has some pictures at the bottom of the page, but can not see any catenary wires in any of them !

Funny, but catenary does not appear in any of my English dictionaries either ! ;-)

Just for the record, that image on the Train Simulator main site is a digital image I shot of a pair of GRS searchlight signals down on the BNSF's Oregon Trunk line in Bend, Oregon. In other words, it's an image of a REAL railroad scene.

You can see the original, uncropped image here:
http://www.pbase.com/rselby/image/63563321

One should not infer anything from this image - it's just one of many I shot while out railfanning under the full moon that evening back in 2004. We needed an image for the website and decided to use this one since we (I) own the rights to use it.

While I'm confident that the new TrainSim will look really good as compared to the other products out there, I don't want anyone to have expectations for total photo realism. That level of detail might take us a few more versions.... :-)

Next time when quoting could you do a bit better at snipping out unneccessary text? Thx.

Assuming the Graphics engine is up to it, I think myself or others could probably model signals that could look that good....just a matter of creating an appropriately detailed model and either using large photo-textures or "composite" textures (ie: photo textures that are processed and/or partially hand-painted):)
