I apologize if this has been said or posted before but the following is directly from Phil Taylor of Aces. His quote below is regarding a post on a Flight Simulator site where fake images were posted of Flight Simulator 11.

Its not true. Date, feautures, box art are all made up.

We have already stated Trains2 is due for Holiday '08, so it should be pretty obvious FS11 wont be out in '08.

When you say holidays of 08--are you talking about the December 2008 time frame? If so, that is so far away that I can't really get all that excited about it. There may even be a KRS version 2 by then.

Bob:

You'll have to ask Phil Taylor what Holiday 08 means. I would assume it means around November or December of 2008.

I know we have a lot of "experts" here in the forums who will no doubt correct me, but I do have some expirience in the area. I worked in the computer sales area for a number of years and my expirience tells me that when a company says "Holiday 08" they mean in time for everyone to get it for XMAS. This usually means the company will have the product on the shelves and universally available for sale before the holiday season to ensure everyone gets it. So if I had to hazard a quess I would say MS means the product will be onsale between late September and early November of 2008, so that everyone has a chance to get if for XMAS.

Was there any software product, that was released at date, planned so far in the future? Because I can't remember it.

Thank heavens that we have MSTSBin and guys still creating add-ons for it ! :7

While I understand you advocating MSTS Bin, I have to disagree with you. It does provide some improvements in MSTS train operation department, however it does nothing on graphics, sound and route creation side. In other words: useful for few, unimportant for most others (including me).

Hi Gregor !

Well, I am happy with the improvements MSTSBin provides for MSTS and as for content, displayed by capable graphics cards, it will be a long time before we get routes like this in MS-Trains2 or KRS ! ;-)

Have a look at these videos a friend made of the WUPPER-EXPRESS and STADTBAHN-U79:

Otto:

This post was about a quote regarding the release time frame for MSTS2.

Why do you have to hijack this post drumming up support for MSTSBin and turning it into a screenshot thread? Maybe your comments are ok but the screenshots are not on topic with this thread.

This thread is about a delay in the release of MS-Trains2 to late 2008, I responded to by saying that we still have MSTS improved by MSTSBin to occupy ourselves with and will probably still use long after the release of new train simulators, if many posts on that subject are anything to go by !

This was the response to what I said, which definitively has nothing to do with this MS announcement:

While I understand you advocating MSTS Bin, I have to disagree with you. It does provide some improvements in MSTS train operation department, however it does nothing on graphics, sound and route creation side. In other words: useful for few, unimportant for most others (including me).

I am not "advocating" MSTSBin nor drumming up support for it, already being done by many elsewhere and only state a fact confirmed by countless posts in the MSTSBin forum and on the MSTSBin web site and responded to the above with samples, showing that there is nothing much wrong with MSTS graphics, creating routes for it and running them, these screen shots prove. To get the best out of it's graphics and sounds is up to add-on creators, 3D-Trains forinstance seem to have no problems with !

The real problem is that many do not use MSTS / MSTSBin to it's fullest potential, either creating for it or using it, their actions causing it to malfunction occasionally. That is not going to change with new versions !

Then why do you keep trying to hijack threads? And cram them with pictures from MSTS? I think is would be respectfull of you to at the least remove the screenshots.

Generally you can add 12-18 months to the first announced release date for any software product.

I'm betting Spring 2009 is the absolute earliest we will see this.

On the contrary, here is another one to prove that there is nothing much wrong with MSTS graphics which MSTSBin did not have to improve on, referred to in another post in this thread !

Now lets see similar or better from one of the new train simulators !

Compared to other consumer sims (racing and flight) the above screens look like crap, period. Compared to graphics available right now for XBOX 360 the above screens look down right hideous.

Sorry but DirectX 7 doesn’t cut it any more Otto.

Otto I never had heard a release time frame for MSTS2 so the point of my post was not about a delay!

>The real problem is that many do not use MSTS / MSTSBin to it's fullest potential, either creating for it or using it, their actions causing it to malfunction occasionally. That is not going to change with new versions !

Oh boy here we go again! It's our fault that we had problems with MSTSBin.

What do you want to talk about in this thread Otto? The release date of MSTS2 or MSTSBin or screenshots? Geez man stay on topic please!

I am responding to posts, Todd !

Anything wrong in doing that ?

One of the meanings of Delay - "Slow or cause to be late".

Windows Vista? Announced sometime late 2002/early 2003, first Beta of Longhorn was released around October 2003. Vista released, what, May 2007?

Yes, but your complete lack of respect for Patch is not right. If anyone did this to one of your posts, you would be running to Nels.

In response to all those in this thread and other threads who seem to
think this release date is a long time away:

As a smalltime software engineer myself, I can tell you that this release date is, if anything, to optimistic. If they can get it done,
and done well, by that time, I will very happily surprised.
This is a HUGE project, and the crew working on it is big, but not
huge. I think the only reason they think they can get it done that
soon is because they are starting with an already developed engine
from Flight Sim X. Otherwise, there would be no way they could finish
it before 2010. I just hope they don't get in to big of a hurry to
release it, and release it half-baked like MSTS was. I'd rather
wait, and have an excellent simulation. WHile we are waiting, we
still have MSTS and all of it's add-ons to play with, so the wait
won't be to painful. Also, KTS will hopefully be out soon, and we
will have fun with it too. I want them both, competing with each
other, so that the competition can make for better products for us.

I am rooting for BOTH teams!

;)
