Personally I would like to see MS finish the first MSTS 2 that they started. And make it so those of us who have smaller systems can run it as I hear MSTSX will require a monster of a machine to run it. I just feel MS should have finished what they started with the first MSTS2.

MS didn't start MSTS2. MSTS2 was a Kuju product. Why would MS finish a game that isn't theirs and is several years old?

OMG more of this...

Tell me this: If you were building a sports car, would you put in a 40 hp motor, so that your grand ma can drive it or would you put in the strongest motor you could affort???

MS are gonna make this state-of-the-art to have some product live. Besides, I have enough of the old KUJU'nk, so yeah... :S

You do have a point MSTS2 was a Kuju venture like the first MSTS not a MS venture.

I would use the biggest engine I could get my hands on.

Hi Bob !

MSTS, as the name suggests, was a owned by Microsoft program, KUJU having been franchised to create it for them and what it contained and how it worked was their decision ! Microsoft still owns the code for it and KUJU had to pull out of developing it further for MSTS-2 !

Microsoft not being able to find another franchisee then dropped MSTS-1.2 !

However, we have MSTSBIN, which to me and many others has achieved more than MSTS-2 could have done ! ;-)

“However, we have MSTSBIN, which to me and many others has achieved more than MSTS-2 could have done !”

How could MSTSBIN achieve more than MSTS-2 could have?

I highly doubt that MSTS-2 would have reused a DirectX 7 graphics engine and the rest of original MSTS’s dated program.

Apart from using a more recent DirectX graphics engine, using most of the MSTS-1.1 code was the intention, Train Artisan was working on for them !

I have no problems with the outdated graphics of MSTS-1.1 plus MSTSBin 1.7.051922 on my Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 and it's 512Mb Radeon X1950XT PCI-Express.

I doubt whether MSTS-2 could have achieved what MSTSBin has, Front and Rear Couplers working, Bogies of flipped locos not turning into curves the wrong way and much, much more !

MSTS + MSTSBin is still the best Train Simulator there is !

To create a new Train Simulator of the quality MS Trains2 promises to be takes years, it's release not envisaged until Christmas 2008 !

A new graphic engine alone would have been a major improvement for MSTS. MSTS Bin is not going to resolve the problems with MSTS and its archaic graphic engine.

How would you know if you had a problem, you don’t know any better?
