Any signs of life at Aces Studios? Having reneged on MSTS2 I would have expected some occasional comformation that they're still alive and working. ;-)

Maybe it's exactly what they are doing??? Working I mean, as opposed to hangin'round the net and posting stuff that will be obsolete tomorrow! ;)

A couple of the blogs were updated on the 29th June - recording a field trip to Alaska

Hi Paul !

I hope that they are not thinking of creating a route based on this exciting but rather devoid of objects landscape !

We already got plenty of routes like that in MSTS ! :-(

I am still wondering whether everything in MS-TRAINS-2 will work and function at least as good as it does in MSTS and better, Locos, couplers, switches, signaling and other interactives, etc, etc, every day working on routes of others becoming more aware of all that MSTS and it's add-on creators have to offer ! ;-)

I am sure that it will look better, thanks to the MSFS-X graphics engine used by it !

Take care, O t t o.

Why is it that people always think the worst of everything before there is even a single screenshot out??? I'd say give these guys a chance and let them do their stuff.

If it doesn't work out in the end, we could still stick to MSTS1.

So far I am not too impressed by KRS either!

If Rick Selby and crew are really smart they'll take what we have been writing in this forum for ages now to their heart and make us something good! ;)

Alaska devoid of objects?

You've never been to Alaska, have you? ;)

Respecfully I don't agree that a few comments about hopes, wishes and concerns represent "thinking the worst". Personally I view it as "showing interest". If these type comments were not part of this forum and we "just let them do their stuff"...what would we talk about?

No but I've lived all my life in one of the world's largest cities and spent time in places all over the world of real wilderness.

I think the US scene is really lacking in any good urban routes and like it or not the cities were what rairoads were built to connect. There are some excellent US routes with great scenery covering mainly wilderness or desert terrain.

Like Otto says......Oh no not more :-(

I wouldn't mind a modern route based on the Alaskan Railroad. It would be something different. No foreign power. (Well, VERY little.)
MSTS is very outdated, and for it's time, the urban areas weren't too bad, but, they leave something to be desired now.

No, but my son and family have been on a cruise all along it's Pacific coast and seen enough from their photos and in many satellite television programs about it !

This is about the best about Alaskan Railways I can find and if a Train Simulator can produce a route looking like that then I am buying ! ;-)

There are some pretty desolate places but I would hardly say it was devoid of objects.

Hi Mike !

This is what I go by and flying across central Canada on many occasions imagine that Alaska is even sparser populated the further North you go, but as you picture shows has stunning scenery everywhere ! ;-)

I've just returned from Alaska, and I had the opportunity to ride both the White Pass railroad (the one they went on) and the Alaska Railroad. I have a bunch of pictures I should post at some point. The scenery is amazing, at that!

The White Pass route would be an awesome addition to any Train Sim game, as it is breathtaking and certainly NOT boring or lacking any sort of landscape.

The Alaska Railroad also would be a great addition, as it has a variety of terrain and scenery that no other route could match!

Also, that picture OTTO posted (post #11) looks like the White Pass route, based on the color and type of the passenger cars, not the Alaskan Railroad.
