Here’s a little video showing a DirectX 10 only feature that will be released in next weeks SP2/Acceration add-on for FSX. Nice stuff to say the least!

Wow, That is fantastic. That is really going to help give the illusion of motion. I really may need to think about a direct x 10 set up in the very near future. I am sure this is something that we will see in TS2.

That is a beautiful thing there. After seeing the video of Crysis with the soft shadowing (self shadowing in FSX) it is truly incredible.

I really do hope this is a feature in TS2. That would be great to see that as your rolling down the Puget Sound coast line on Sounder for example, sun in your face with the glare from the sun making the signals hard to see and watching the shadows roam over the controls =)

Self shadowing already exists on external views in FSX in DX9 and 10 although the latest screenshots from TS2 show no shadows at all.
(and also exist in KRS)

Soft shadowing is something else

Yes but not from the cockpit view as far as I know.

in dx9 fsx you can only get self shadowing on the outside. you need dx10 for cockpit (or cabview in this case)self shadowing. also i belive you will need a dx10 capable system to run this train sim 2 due to the fact it is vista only.

That is because the lighting model has not yet been implemented in TS2! (said Rick Selby)
