Awesome!!!.....the lighting is terrific...and love those ties...actually modeled 3D instead of mere textures!!!

Those shots look great. I love the reflection on the glass in the cab shots. That effect added a lot to the realism in Flight Sim. It also looks like there is a decent terrain mesh resolution looking at the hill in one of the shots.

Where are the tie plates?? GREAT stuff though! Another question. These pics are on the NS around Johnstown right? Where are all of the NS engines? I would imagine some SD70M-2s, C40-9Ws and SD40-2s would look more at home than BNSF power (however the BNSFs are gorgeous models).

Just noticed another thing, I don't see any dynamic shadows other than those in the cab. I certainly hope that is not the case with the finished product.

Guys - it's a work in progress. With a year or more before release, I'm sure those items mentioned above will be there or tweaked to your liking.

Cheers!

It *looks* good, however it only runs on windows Vista, that's sad. I am not going to buy Vista for running this sim. There is no other reason why I should. Perhaps its successor is a more efficient OS, but I doubt it. Modularity has never been much of an issue for MS.

I have Windows Vista, and I sure am ready for this new sim. :D

Sooner or later we will have to migrate to the next OS. I was forced to do this sooner than expected due to lightning coming in the phone line. Some things are frustrating in Vista and somethings are great. I have been around since DOS 3.1 (286 with a math chip, a fire breathing dragon in its day). I loved Dos 6 some years later, but you have to move on to get the programs you must run for important functions. Sooner or later they stop supporting the underlying software and hardware. Try to hook up to a DSL line with a DOS 6.0 computer? Want the spreadsheet the client uses to run on your system, try running that on Windows 95? You have to move on eventually, why make it harder than it needs to be?

Im going to have to get a new PC myself which will have Vista on it, But I already have decided that I am going to keep Vista and XP and I will just switch OS when I want to run MSTS 2. The rest of the time, I will be on XP. It will work out perfect for me as I havent heard any good things about vista.

Awwww come on guys! Windows Vista is really not that bad! As a matter of fact, it's probablly the best OS to date...

...if you don't mind the occasional stack overflow crash (no more "blue-screen-o-death" - it just bypasses that and reboots without warning)...

... or the lack of support for older hardware by the hardware vendors...

... or the fact that any software older than January of this year simply does not work with Vista...

... or the darned annoying security screen change everytime you try to run a program...

... or the Linux-looking interface...

...or the mystery triangles that flit about the screen while playing your favorite PC games...

... or the 3GB memory limit (32 bit)...

... or the incredibly slow performance on hardware that was state-of-the art at the beginning of '07...

...or the "long-kiss-goodbye" - the fact that it takes five minutes to Recycle Bin a 2kb file or 39 minutes to transfer a couple of megabytes between two folders...

... yada yada yada...

... ad-nauseum infinitum.............

Something to think about - Microsoft was going to kill Windows Xp at the end of this year, that is until they received an overwhelming vote of "no confidence" in Windows Vista. Seems the only people that are upgrading to it are the ones buying new computers who have no choice but to get the gelded OS. That is only 16% of all Microsoft Product users!

Puleeeze guys! Can we have a decent discussion on the new sim without drifting towards bitching about Vista EVERY time?

It is soooo boring! If you don't want to get Vista to have MSTS2, FINE! Your decision, but please spare us with the constant repetition of "oh its so sad its for Vista only, im not getting it!".

It is boring!

And I guess that at the end of the day, 90% of those screaming loudest now they won't get Vista, will have it in the end anyway, because they are jealous about those showing of great screenies from TS2!

So cut it out, will ya?!?

And not I am not agitated, it is just so annoying having to sift through this kind of stuff on every TS forums around...

Yeah, great that you will be able to run TS2 on Vista. Too bad that even with the best machine, your frame rates will be about 2 per second! Good luck getting those great looking screen shots!

My oh my! The seventh-grade must-use-bad-language-to-make-a-point monster has reared it's ugly little head again!

I agree with Sebastian. Lets kill the whole Vista thing. Atleast if you get Vista you will have the 2FPS, better than the none with XP. It is what it is. I've had Vista for about 7 months now and I have survived. I will admit it has it's moments, but so does XP.

I'm ready and waiting on TS2 to get here, just will have to do some hardware upgrades though lol. I'm loving all the screen shots, now we just need a video ;)

Looks good, other than the fact that the centrebeam flatcar in New_TrainSimulator_01.jpg is missing the end closest to the railbox highcube boxcar. :)

A lot of money to spend here before I can even install that program, so you guys can beta test it for me and get the bugs worked out before I upgrade my CPU to run it (Sniper's already putting KRS through it's paces). :P

I really enjoy train sim, but also, it has given me a lot of headaches and frustration trough the numerous errors in the game.

I am looking forward for the new version, but I really hope this time Microsoft is more serious about supporting the product.

Putting a product on the market and not supporting it, really does not give confidence to buy the next product.

I really do not know whether it was Kuju's responsibility or Microsoft to fix it.

Trying to go and fix the past is no use, fortunately we had a lot of very smart simmers fixing and creating, that really saved MSTS-1, for which I am really grateful to all of you.

Only time will show if Kuju or Microsoft stand behind their new sims.

I am interested to see the reaction from either company when any of you report an error... will they fix it?, or will they simply say:

"wait for the next version.... maybe in 7 years" :)

haha.

Can't even play switching or local activities right ?..since theres no 'switching mode' for the signals and switchs. And if you pass a red signal the system will kick your arse out of the activity.

I guess we'll just have to live with it. It was mostly the same crap floating around when XP was released, and before that when 98 was released, and probably will be whenever the next Windows OS is as well.
