Outside of my interests in railroads and Microsoft Train Simulator, I also have a love for aviation and enjoy playing FS2004 like many here. I know that there were several scenery addons, the names currently escape me, designed for Flight Simulator 2000 in which you were able to watch moving trains. I was wondering if this concept could work in FSX with modifying the moving automobile traffic using the railroad data in FS2004, and the added benefit of the enhanced railroad option provided by the program Ultimate Terrain.

A good way to promote MSTS2 and drum up support for the game would be for the developers to come up with a moving trains patch, nothing to fancy, for FSX to highlight the graphics engine. No pun intended.

What do you think of this novel idea?

Sincerely,
Walter Conklin

Being one who happens to really enjoy the multiplayer aspect of FSX, I would really get a kick out of there being not only a way to see moving trains in FSX, but also be able to interface both FSX and MSTS 2 together. There was mention in another post regarding SimConnect, I don't know a whole lot about how that functions, but if it can allow outside apps to interact with FSX, then why not an outside game like MSTS 2?
Afterall, they are both supposed to be built on the same technology, that shouldn't be too difficult I would think.

Imagine taking a C208B from KLAX to KOAK, taxiing off the runway and hopping into the virtual cab of a Coast Starlight for a run south back to LA.
