If you have created a set of track rules and have track already in place, can you edit the rules and have the new feature available?

I have rules that use one of the default sets and added parameters I figured would work. Now I find I may need a tighter radius on the yard version of the set.

I tried to revise the blueprint that created the rules and exported it to the route, but the change doesn't show up in the desired track. I wanted to reduce the radius from 150M to 100M to create some tighter radius switches in a yard.

Hank

Wonder what happens if I do THIS?! :eek:

I didn't know the answer to that, so I tried it just now, laid a double crossover and some curves with the default track rule, then hacked the default track rule for wider doubletrack spacing and 100 meter minimum, fired up the game and went back into the test route to see what it did. (Don't try this at home without making backups, kids.) Nada, didn't affect previously laid track, new track rule connects to old track rule just fine, new track goes to 100 meter minimum instead of 150 and has 4 meter spacing instead of 3.14. I didn't use the blueprint thingy for this tho, used Mike's RStoolsKibbles&Bits contraption to hack the BIN file, so I don't know what the correct procedure is for the blueprints.

One thing to be aware of tho;

This thing generates frogs, points, and guiderails according to the track rule information stored in the track, so if the end user don't have your custom track rules installed he gets a muddy mess at each switch. Make route with custom track rules, need to include same with route. That might be subject to change, they're working on allowing tighter than 100 meters (currently hard coded so if you hack the track rules for 50 or 30 it still won't go tighter than 100), they might change the subroutine for that too. At present it appears to be just in the name, for example you rename the All Track rule to default before laying track it will generate points, frogs, and guiderails even for 100 meter curve switches with All Track deleted and the original 150 meter default track rule reinstalled. Apparently my muddy mess above was due to it looking for the track rule name and not finding it.

Jim

How do you know the created rack rules are the one the route is using? Is there a place to check which are in use?

Got two routes out there at the moment, both use multiple track rules in the same route. If you use the selection tool and slide it along past a connection you'll get "multiple track rules", if it's a track generated by an offset the track rules will be blank, otherwise it will tell you at the top of that right side flyout which track rule set was used to lay the selected track. Can't change that without deleting and relaying that track, but you can change other things like texture and sound within the definitions of that track rule. That's the advantage of the All Track rules, you can change to any texture, add or remove overhead wire, and any track sound. :cool:
