Hey, I'm having a blast with this world editor thingy. Found that, if your trying to make a set of ladders for a yard, you can get all sorts of odd stuff going on. I won't try to explain what, exactly, I did cause I'd never remember but, I've been really successful at making these things happen repeatedly.

I'll start building my ladder and get the first couple of tracks right where I want them and then, as I expand out, I start getting them red boxes with the tall red box thingys above them. I seem to be somehow able to get rid of them. Then I'll start getting invisible track. I know it's there cause I can select it. I can even connect to it but it usually gets visible then. Then, I'll do something else like, mabe, delete a different piece of track, and maybe one of those invisible tracks will show itself. So, eventually I get a lot of invisible or used-to-be invisible track, a bunch of red boxes over the top of other red boxes, and track with the wrong texture cause I picked the wrong texture before I put the track down.

Regardless of how I approach it, I invariably end up sitting on the desktop wondering where RS went. The desktop usually comes right after the undo button.

Actually, I like this world/route editor thingy. I'm light years ahead of where I was in the learning curve (compared to the MSTS route editor) after 1 week of playing with it.

I do miss my dynamic track, though. Always made me feel like I was leaning to the left.

I, for one, DON'T miss the implementation of dynamic track in MSTS. It was a real PITA!

In RS, basically ALL track is dynamic now.

That's the secret to successful route development, coconut power! New forum has a useful feature, click on advanced search, select the KRS general forum (KRS Route Design is a recent addition), find posts by user, find threads started by user. Huh? Whaddya mean "which user", who do you think has been taking this thing apart with the European version since last October?! Geez, for a lesser diety I get no respect at all.

How could the God of Coconuts demean himself by claiming to be a lesser diety!

I've seen all of your posts, matter of fact I look forward to them. They're invariably informative and usually entertaining.

Problem is I like to play with things like this. If it means getting a bunch of them red box thingies or invisible track or a suprise visit to the desktop, that's OK. Nothing hurt 'cause the route I'm playing with would never make sense to anyone (including me). It's just there to learn on. It's like getting an assembly required bicycle. I'll look at the manual when I can't figure out how to get the seat facing the right direction.;)

I even figured that there's an advanced editor thingy that lets you put these smiley face thingies int a post.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::roll eyes::rolleyes:

Probably have a whole new bunch of stuff to learn when the US DevTools and patch come out.

I don't have the free time that I used to so I'm not sure I could ever produce another uploadable route but, that's OK 'cause I'm enjoying this.

I still miss my dynamic track, though. Can't imagine a more enjoyable way to spend a couple of days than trying to get one of them things to fit where I want it. :D This newfangled thing makes it way to easy.

Long live the God of Coconuts (a major diety)! :p

Got a point there, it's un American to read the directions first, that's like cheating. Well, you think it's too easy and you're looking for something to beat your head against, hook up a few turntables. Got one that worked? Good, now try setting a path to it in the 2D map, see if it crashes to desktop! Hee-hee, that's the only truly buggy part of the world editor reminiscent of the MSTS route editor, a real crapshoot whether it's gonna work or not.

Haven't started playing with turntables yet. Sounds like my kind of fun. I have managed to crash a few times while playing with some of the signals. Think I'll just put stop signs at the junctions for now.:D

I noticed that the DevDocs is updated on the KUJU website. Now I wonder what their timetable is for the DevTools for the US route as well as the ghostly patch we keep reading about.

Come on KUJU, some of would like to get serious with this toy.

According to a post by RSDLAdam on the RS forum, might release next week. Hope so!
