A shame most of them have pretty bad music over them. I'd really rather hear the simulator.

Whats a damn shame is how few of them there are. I cant wait until RS arrives, but when it does, you can expect lots of public displays from me.
(if I can get FRAPS to work!)
Thanks for posing my video Cookiemae :)

Yeah, they sound like EMD Locomotives.
It is very unrealistic for a ES4400 to sound like that. GE Locomtives make more of a chugging sound.

Well, that's a VERY nice cabview, and I'm sure that SOMEDAY (don't hold your breath you're turning blue) you'll be able to see that cab in an ACTUAL COMPUTER GAME (cough cough vaporware cough cough)! Run along and play now so the grownups can talk about things that actually exist, here's the door to FantasyLand:

Wow, are you serious? Fantasy land? Grown ups? Where!? I don't see any.... not after a remark like that.
And I think Microsoft is pretty serious about releasing that piece of 'vaporware' as you so eloquently put it...

this post is completely outrageous, were in 2008, playing a game being developed since 2007, you gave us a picture to a simulator coming in the far away 2009, not to mention, a UK company made some of the nicest up-to-date interior's to US locomotives. By the way, this is a RAIL SIMULATOR forum, if we wanted to see MSTS2 pictures we would go the the MSTS2 forums.

What makes you such a bigger person? Seriously, stop bickering, come to the forums to talk about their designated meanings.

Hmmm, that was my thinking here, I was giving the little piggy the benefit of the doubt. Guy comes in here and bashes something without any constructive criticism or recommending an alternative, when asked to clarify he points to a competitor's work in progress that nobody really knows what it might look like on THEIR system since it's not available yet.
That's either a troll or a young child, no third possibility.

You guys don't know who he (i.e. GoldenPig) is????
He's the last person who deserves talking down to. Very well respected, and deservedly so, member of the train development community. His modeling is tops in our industry if not comparable to the gaming industry as a whole. You may not agree with his view point but GoldenPig is one of the best of the best.

Yeah, I know who he is, not impressed. I'm impressed with YOU, but I'd slap your sillyassed opinion down just as quickly if you came 'a trolling. Fortunately you have enough sense not to jump into the BVE forum and say "shoddy", so it never came up. :p

I was just commenting on what I thought was people talking about him like he hadn't done anything. I concur with your assessment of the ethics and brevity of a professional coming in here and "talking out" like that. In my opinion I say the RS cabs look excellent and will add that when MS can put into our hands their cabs, then we'll see. I'm sure once we see the development tools for the US version we'll see a preponderance of great things coming out for RS.

You're right, I wasn't meaning to be harsh, I just expected more... the comment wasn't so much from a competitor's standpoint but from that of a fellow consumer and artist. :)
And for the same reason that some can say that that they aren't impressed with my work so can I express my opinions of the work of others - positive or negative...

Actually IIRC many people were (or maybe still are) impressed with your work, I wasn't because I have zero interest in big road engines, TOFC, intermodals, or Paris Hilton. :p Irrelevant here tho, this game is so new that everyone is a newcomer, and like I said to King Pineapple it's a "what have you done for me LATELY" world.

well in that case i totally agree. not only the cabs but the locomotives and uh.... well everything could have been given a little more attention to details and accuracy. but its fun and overall rather pleasing after playing trainz for years.

Sorry, KRS's cabs still beat that. There's quite a lot of "grain" to the surfaces.

Gee, things seem to have slowed down a bit.
I have I think 12 KRS videos on youtube...
11 of them are crashes, however....
The other one is a tour of my new route...
So, search Hyce777 on youtube and you'll find me.

All I got to say to this is.. KRS in my honest opinion with all, looks far too much like Trainz Simulator.
Kuju did a rush job with MSTS, and to me, I think MSTS looks a little more realistic then toyish. But that is my opinion, and everyone has a right to one...
Also, Sniper, the Cajon Pass of KRS has the same stuff Danny makes or did make at one point in time.

Why are you posting this in the video section? "KRS in my honest opinion with all, looks far too much like Trainz Simulator." They dont look like each other at all. "Kuju did a rush job with MSTS" What are you talking about?
"I think MSTS looks a little more realistic then toyish." Well thats up for debate.

Cause I am stating my opinion on the videos I see.
Actually, Trainz and KRS do look rather simular, I have played Trainz 2006, and from the screen shots and videos I have seen of KRS, the graphics are rather close.
About Kuju rushing their job on MSTS, if you noticed they did, Apparently not enough testing was done before release, look at most of the issues most had, for instance in the Route Editor, Thankfully MSTS Bin has helped most issues.
To me, MSTS looks a little more real and feels a little more real then what KRS looks like, I mean in all honesty, but the graphics in KRS make it look like Trainz, and in return toyish.
Have you actually played the game?
CSX4878
06-15-2008, 12:25 PM
Played the demo version, Liked it for about 5 minutes. I quickly noticed that the graphics are rather close with Trainz. Sorry fella's.
So a real indepth knowledge of the game informing your opinion then. Akin to dismissing a song after listening to the first two bars.
CSX4878
06-24-2008, 06:37 PM
So, in conclusion, your comparing that my opinion on the game would be the same for a song?
Wow. I thought atleast you was gonna attempt to prove wrong.
On another note, When I compare songs, I look for talent. If it sounds in any way or form of not having much talent, I pass it by.
Oh, and before you say anything, each has his own opinion on music talent too.
Read what I wrote - dismissing a song after two bars without listening to the whole song, or dismissing a song because of what other people say about it is at best ill-informed and at worst band-wagon jumping of the worst kind.

While I am not defending Shawn in anyway....What does short videos and metal have anything to do with making some kind of review to something and make it a honest review? Does somebody need to be a professional at something to make a review count?

I would prefer that such a reviewer have a longer attention span, not use a demo version as a source, and not be color blind. The review then couldn't help but count more.

Well, This past fall. I posted a small review on the KRS sim off the demo version, So I guess my review that I posted here on the train sim forum was not a reliable source either.
Anyways, Here is the thread concerning my review of the demo version
http://forums.flightsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?t=264072
Of course, Remember this review was before the full sim being released in the US. I do own a copy of the sim itself and I can clearly say that the KRS sim is not even close to what my review stated. There are more issues with the sim than what I saw in the demo.

You're review of a demo program consisted of posted screenshots. That's not even a preview you wrote.

It was a short review that I wrote with the screenshots posted. On a demo version, There really cant be a long review as I didnt see the whole sim itself at the time.

06-26-2008, 10:37 AM
Wow, more issues in the sim then the demo itself? Hmm.
Don't bother with him Randy, apperently us MSTS folks can't make good reviews. ;)
You can't make good reviews based upon the demo - that is the point. I don't think that is too complicated even for you to understand - or am I over-estimating you again?
CSX4878

Apperently I can't make a good review on the Demo, as the Demo version appears to have less issues as stated.
