I'm new at this so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

I'm using the developer's tools and have managed to create a basic scenario but cannot devine the method to use to set the destination for the scenario.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Hi Leo !

I think that what you are after is covered in this thread and hope that you can make it work ! ;)

Thanks for the reply.

I created my first scenario and the documentation I have said to select the Stop at Destination located in the Upper Left Flyout and click on the player locomotive.

Then double click on the Instruction Disk that appears over the locomotive and a properties tab appears at the upper right.

To set a destination click on the green plus sign in the properties tab and select a destination in the World Editor. A destination should then appear in in the list in the upper right properties tab.

Obviously I'm missing something as nothing appears in the upper right properties tag after I follow the steps outlined above.

O.K., Leo, lets run through what you did or should do.

So you created a new scenario by clicking on the "Scenario Tools" icon in the top left panel and in the middle left panel selected "Standard Scenario Marker" and placed it on to the track where the player service is to start from ?

You then entered it's name, description, briefing, starting time and weather in it's top right panel and then F2 saved it.

You then click on the "Objects Tools" house icon in the top left panel, forcing a "Save Scenario" and then in the left middle panel select a Marker, Portal or Destination, placing it onto a distant track where you want the scenario to end.

You then click on "Scenario Tools" again to select a service loco, which will ask for the scenario to be saved again.

Having chosen one and placed a driver icon on top of it you can then tick it a "Player Service" in that box in it's top right panel, click on the blue "Set Destination" icon, find the portal or destination marker for it, click on it so that it appears in the top right panel and F2 save the scenario.

Alternatively, before setting the above "Destination", you can place more than one portal to vary the default path to the final destination set by RS which can then be driven through, setting their speed at a minimum 1mph, selecting them with the "Stop at destination" hand pointer placed on top of the service loco. More than one of those can be used, having a maximum of 5 markers each I think.

Moving into the player part of the scenario the service should then be there ready to roll and the #9 2D-Map showing you the path you have just plotted.

This rail simulator should have an option which after highlighting an icon and pressing F1 then brings up a HELP window with precise and detailed instructions about what they are for, like I just did in this simple way and support them with screenshots ! ;)

I did exactly what you said until everything after hitting F2 and saving. From that point on I followed the RS "How to Create a Stop At Instruction" from the Dev Documents which did not work for me.

I'll follow your instructions and report back with the results.

Thanks for the help,

Sadly I had no joy. All was well up to the point where I clicked the "Object Tools" and the scenario saved. I then went to the left middle panel but there were no Markers, Portals, or Destinations to select and place onto a distant point where I want the scenario to end. All I could find in the middle left panel were various objects like buildings, trees, people, clutter, etc.

What am I missing?

Hi there ! I'm still plugging away at a scenario .. here are a few tips ..
The driver icon ... place it on a train , without it trains are just scenery.
if left unticked this will be an AI train
you set the time it starts off ... and a final destination ..
Two ways to set a destination for your 'driver' double click the driver icon and 'fly' down the track ... using the up arrow and the right shift key. Really only useful if your destination is close.
Second way has a little catch to it ... you use the pop out menu that appears from the right when you select the little 'compass rose' icon on the top compass tab. select the destination here .... then to go there you click the arrow beneath the 'rose' BUT WAIT
You need to go to your driver icon double click to have the driver details page selected..
.. and THEN .. click the little arrow ... then, when you get there, select a destination by clicking on the icon on the driver page and then on your chosen place marker .. those things with orange cubes on top.

Depending on the type of service you select ranging from express .. to .. stopping .. to slow.. the train will be routed differently ... if you need to make it go via a particular platform you can use a stop at instruction ... if you reset it's default speed from 0 mph to anything else it will act as a routing point ...

Using the space bar will display different types of track info ..I find the directional track information is really useful in avoiding trying to get trains to run up track which is set the 'other' way.

Just get the thing to go somewhere simple first , then add AI one at a time and save each time. Cheers jv
