First: A request: I am a rank newbie and - it would be helpful - to me if there were a newbie forum for KRS so I wouldn't have to flaunt my ignorance in front of people who are well along in building routes .
Second: A question: I have been trying for the last ten days or so to lay a circle or oval track without success. When I try to move the slightly mis-matched ends together, the track earlier in the loop breaks. Am I trying to do something that cannot be done?
Third: A question: In my attempts to lay track, I've started ten or so "new routes" (xyxzy1 through xyzzy10) and now I wish to delete them. I cannot find anything by that name in the c:\Programs\Rail Simulator folder. How do I recognize these defunct attempts so I can delete them?
Again. Sorry for the rank newbie questions.

I don't know about making a circle, but if you have the mk1 upgrade installed, you can highlight the route in the game menu (as if you were selcting it to play) and hit the delete key.

Sorry to disappoint you, but we don't have a newbie forum. Probably because the game is so new we're ALL newbies here. Wouldn't help much in any case, UKtrainsim has a "Help for Beginners" forum, and alongside questions like "how do I release the brakes" there are other questions like "how do I get the blueprint editor to export a custom cosine tangent eighteen aspect CTC signal and add it to the German signals script database?" Half the questions I'm trying to figure out what's "beginner" about them and why they're not posted in the route design or 3D modeling forums or whatever.
Q2, the join tool is a specialty tool only used in certain situations, if you join one end of a track to another track it will disconnet the other end. Easiest way is to turn on the "snap to track" tool and turn off the other tools (snap to terrain, for example, will take priority and overrule snap to track so it doesn't work), then stretch track over to the other track until the lines turn pink and then click.

After that delete extra track beyond the newly created switch and weld. More complicated track stuff here;

Lot of that was posted before we had a separate route design forum, so hunting thru some of the KRS general forum will find a few other tips.
Three ,if you have the patch (sorry, "Upgrade mark 1", download from the file library here or at the www.railsimulator.com (http://www.railsimulator.com) website), the easiest way is to select the route from the list in the game and hit the DELETE key on the keyboard.
