Hi guys. I'm going to begin work on the CP Crowsnest Sub soon. I'm having troubles importing DEM data into the sim. I've converted the files, and placed them into the RailSimulator/DEM/SRTM folder that I created. Fire up the route, press 'T' which creates.... nothing.
Where did I mess up? I can't seem to find my error.

hi,
Based on that description of what you actualy did, we have no idea.
A few more details would be good.
Have you created a route blueprint?
Then created an actual route?
Whats the origin lat/long?
Do you have the right files ?
Converted what to what?
Did you have either of the Linear objects or the Objects tool boxes high lighted when you tried to import the SRTM data?
All such info helps to reduce the question down to the area of possible cause.

I converted GEOBASE DEM files into SRTM files for use in RailSimulator. I forgot to mention that I DID input the lat/long, which didn't help. (I can't remember the lat and long as I threw them away long ago) I never read about a route blueprint, what is it?
Thanks Ross.

HI,
Its the basic RS building block from which you start a route. Adding the DEM terrain really is a few steps along the path .
The RS Development Docs. explain the concept in....
Rail Simulator – Route Blueprint Guide For Freeware Routes.
RS Dev Docs are down loadable from www.railsimulator.com
They are somewhat cryptic but do explain how to create a Route Blueprint, and then what to do with it.
Understanding this will help you up a few rungs on the learning curve.
http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=218&t=81218 will also give you some information on the process
And there's Mike Simpson's RS_Tools (The Missing Bits) http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/RailSimulator/RS_TMB.html
which is talked about and is a useful means to an end once you understand the process

Hi Ross. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. But, when I go to fire up the asset editor, I get an error: "Graphics could not be initialized, try again with a different screen resolution, multisampling, or windowing options." I tried changing the screen resolution, that had no effect, what is multisampling, and what would windowing options have anything to do with it?
Thankyou.

hi,
By default it tries to open in full window mode and cant for some strange reason. the solution is to open the game and at the very beginning click on options and uncheck the full screen option. Then as soon as possible close down the game but don't use CTRL/ALT/Delete and the asset editor will then be able to open in "Window Mode"
