I have a lot of custom engines, mostly Amtrak stock.
Do they work with RailDriver and what engine do you select?

Unfortunately the RailDriver was only intended to work with the default files included with Microsoft Train Simulator, and may not be compatible with any expansion routes or modified content.
If the content creator of those custom engines used the default ENG files included with Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) then you should be able to use them with the RailDriver.
The first thing you want to do is open the RailDriver Manager and choose the engine that is closest to the custom engine you are trying to use. Press the play button and wait for MSTS to load. Start a route and try using the RailDriver to get moving. Now try stopping.
The most common problem with custom engines is the brakes not working. This is a sign that the custom engine uses non-default ENG files, and because of this it isn't compatible with the RailDriver.
The reason it isn't compatible is that some content authors add extra throttle or brake positions to the ENG files. These extra positions prevent the RailDriver from properly interfacing with MSTS.
To solve this problem you will need to download RailDriver compatible ENG files for any engines that do not work with the RailDriver. For more information regarding where you can find RailDriver compatible ENG files please refer to the following article in the P.I. Engineering Knowledgebase: http://www.piengineering.com/faq/content/28/3/en/why-don_t-my-msts-expansion-routes-work-with-the-raildriver.html

F59-->Dash 9
Dash 8-->Dash 9
MP15-->GP38
SSB1200-->GP38
Bombardier Cab Car-->Series 2000

I modified the R142A to the following throttle:
0%
33%
66%
100%
Will it work?

Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with the ENG file settings to know what the throttle positions need to be.
The Best way to add RailDriver support to an ENG file is to use Mike Simpson's Route-Riter program. This program has the ability to add RailDriver support to custom ENG files.

I once tried that.
BIG MISTAKE (for those without RailDriver)
The brake was locked in -1:eek:
The throttle was locked in N8 or 0%:eek:
The reverser was locked in Neutral:eek:

So, make sure you keep a copy of the non-raildriver .eng file for later non-raildriver use?

Yes, It's always best to save a back-up copy of any files you are trying to modify. That way if anything goes wrong you still have a copy of the original files to go back to.
