Hi Dale !

The biggest data base to get answers for questions like this one is to do a GOOGLE for "Norton 360" +problems !

With regards to it's "Systemworks" there were numerous reports here in the forums about it messing with MSTS and again doing a GOOGLE "Norton Systemworks" +problems will list other problems users had.

Take care, O t t o.

AVG Free and Spybot S&D have kept me virus free and don't slow your computer down, unlike Norton AV, which is known to slow down your computer's disk access speed by a huge margin.

Ditto here, using AVG Pro on my cheap Internet only VISTA SP1 computer.

I had a bad experience with Norton 360. It deleted my Paint Shop Pro, version 8, installer program after it flagged it as a virus. 360 did not alert me that it was a possible virus, did not ask me if I wanted to delete it, it just quaranteened and deleted the file, then flashed a proud sounding message up on the screen giving itself kudos that it had just deleted a virus. Needless to say, I was less than amused that a $140 program had just been toiletized!

Symantec, of course, was at a loss as to why this happened. They suggested that it could have been infected with a virus; a claim that I know cannot be true. I have had that program in my data folder on my computer since it was released. It has been scanned on a weekly basis by every Norton virus scanner since then, plus McAfee virus scan and AVG Antivirus. I believe it was N360 that had the bug in it!

I got a refund for the program, then I proceeded to delete IT from my computer!

Norton is a virus within itself once your subscription is up it will keep asking you for a new one but you can't remvoe it from your computer and theat stinks!

Norton 360 was one of the better Norton programs I've used, but it still ended up getting uninstalled within a week.

So far I've tried Kaspersky, all kinds of Norton AV, McAfee, NOD32, AVG and Trend Micro's various offerings and none of them have worked well enough for me to keep. Most of them just ended up being too bloated for my day to day use (especially Norton and McAfee) while others ended up having weird problems that I could get around. I believe Kaspersky didn't play nice with a bunch of games that I play, causing horrible performance, while Trend Micro's scanners have always caused my "My Pictures" folder to crash when opened.

So... I run without an anti-virus program, simply because I haven't found one that does what I want. Picky? Of course. If I'm paying money for it, I have more than a right to be though. I've already wasted enough on ones that DON'T work.
