I've got a couple of pictures here for you all to look at. Added windows to the cab and the center control bulge. I'm not quite sure how the interior looks like so if any body out there has some detailed pictures of the inside of an UP SW1500 ( not the MP15's, they are slightly different inside the cab) to share with me, I would be greatly appreciative and would get credited to helping me get the model done as close to accurate as possible. Thanks in advance and enjoy! :)

Looking good!;) This locomotive should've been in the default roster, and I'm glad it looks like Rail Simulator fans like me will get our hands behind the throttle of it!:D

Very very nice work! I'm glad to know that we'll see some small EMD Four axle power early on in this game. :)

Don't forget guys, to make it drivable I'll need some pictures of the interior of the cab. I'm not sure if UP's switchers were dual control stand or single. Also how does the engine sound like and what about the bell and horn sounds? I'll need all this information so I can make this switcher ROCK! I will give credit to those who help me get it there. Take care all.

It's a nice shot, but i don't think it represents UP's interior. I'll take some cues from it though. Keep those pics coming!

So, are you saying that the Union Pacific SW1500s have drastically different cab interiors from the rest of the SW1500s?

You know what, i was mistaken into thinking that UP ordered them with dual control setups. I look at the pictures of UP SW1500 on railpictures.net and they are like the interior of the picture that you posted so yah, it was a great help so thanks for that Driverman. Sorry about the comments on my previous post. More pictures would be welcome. And don't forget the sounds too!

If you want new sounds for your SW1500, go buy yourself an O gauge MTH model, and take the sounds off of that. MTH makes some very prototypical model trains that are VERY authentic. Only a suggestion, doesn't have to be manditory.

Or better, he could find a youtube video of one, go to vixy.net and dowload the url as a wav file, and plug it into the loco...

Good idea. However, I tried searching up "SW1500" on Youtube, and I couldn't find a "Stand alone" video of an SW1500.

I have i few ideas of my own but ya, the ideas are great. I'll probably google search to find what i'm looking for in the sounds department. As for prototype modeling, I find that railroaddata.com is a good source too. railpictures.net is also a great source of information. Thanks guys, keep it coming.

I've been working on the number boards and antenna and flashing beacon lights on top of the cab. Also the the sander caps and number board on the long hood. Next I'll tackle the intake and exhaust grill at the front of the long hood. Enjoy!

I would actually jump into this and say do NOT take sounds from any model locomotive. Use the real thing or something close. The 567 sounds are already there and I'm sure could be adapted. MTH is cool for the foamers who don't know any better, but the sounds are too grainy and they don't scale like the real thing.

I was lucky enough to come across a nice audio editing program that you can download for free! It's called Audacity and its freeware. I used it to capture some SW1500 sounds from the kind folks on youtube. It is a great sound, those roots blown 12 cylinder 645 engines ( they are NOT 12 cylinder 567 engines, those engines came in the SW1200s). With a little tweeking I got some decent idle, rev up, high running sounds. Also a bell sound and horn from an SW1500 too! The only other locomotive that uses the 12 cylinder variant of the 645 engine is the supercharged variety on the GP and SD 39s( which produce 2300 HP!). Those sound completely different. If any one is interested in hearing the sounds I edited let me know and I'll post them on youtube. Take care all.

Wasn't sure if you could find the 645's on the net at all. Even better since those had a more distinct whine to them compared to the 567.

Is there a specific program you are using to create all of your engines for RS?
