hi,
I been working on this one for many hours now and have yet to find that elusive key.
My sliding doors do not slide.
I have diesected the sample coach to the point of running it and discovering that I am not convinced its doors open in the game either, even though I can import it and run it in 3dCanvas and it works in the Asset editor, just another twist to this tail and may even be a clue in there that I am missing.
I can get my door automation to run in the asset editor. I can export my work of art and drive it in the game. I can import it back into 3D Canvas and then import the ***.IA files and the animation works as it should. I have a sererate ***.IA file for the left and the right side automations. Just to check I had the passenger pick up sorted I set up an AI train and it did the stop at and pick up passengers after opening its doors so I was setting that up right. The drive mode is intermediate in the game. My object hierachy in 3D Canvas is as near as I can get it to the sample coach. File names are accurate to the best of my ability, names in correct places as best as I can figure out. People are happy to get off my train when I press T but no amount of logic seems to be getting the doors to open.
Heres the evidence as best as I can manage.......I am missing something here, some clues would be much appreciated.

Did you set up control values for the animations as shown in the screenshot? The "Interior Geometry Slave Output" is needed if you'll be seeing the doors open and close in cab view. Bad news: there's no similar control value for passenger view.

hi,

Thanks jeff, all is now well in the door department when I drive, still to sort the AI bit. I shall continue the research into why two lots of passengers get off. It looks like one lot from each side of the train, but they both go to the side of the platform. The cab is the next CHALLENGE, will be a slow bit by bit process. Considering I have done no PC graphics creation previous to this I am pretty pleased with my efforts, is fun.

Did you have separate door animations for each side? In the top view of 3DS MAX, the front of the train car should be pointing up so left side and right side should be on the left and right.

hi,
Turned out that all the passenger definitions in the cargo department where LHS. I typed either RHS or LHS in the relevant space when I set them up but, it would appear that not using the drop down list to select LHS or RHS meants they are all set to the default of LHS. Just another detail to note.
