Hi Jim !

Did what you described in another thread and stored 4 different loco services in the CAJON-OTTO's Freeroam freight scenario's 3 AI starting portals, setting their departure times at 10 minutes intervals in their driver properties.

"Playing" the scenario in the editor, the first service starts at the scenario starting time as set in it's driver fly-out but not the other 3.

Did you say something about signals being required ?

"Play" tested your US-PON AI South Portal at 32x and it spat out it's AI services at 10 minutes intervals and there are no signals visible within viewing range.

Creating loco headed consists, storing them as such for general use in the route and not make them "Services", can they then be placed on the AI starting portal track, given a driver and starting time to make it a service and then store it in the portal ?

Your advice will be appreciated as always ! ;)

Take care, O t t o.

P.S.: I think I know what the problem is. Every AI service stored in a starting portal has to be given it's own end destination portal, in my case the same as all the other leaving the same portal ! More on that later.

Trying to do that, I get a "Send......." !

Otto, Iam not exactly sure what you mean, but to put a train in the portal you must -

- Create the consist you want including the loco on the track in front of the portal

- Give it a driver icon with a name ( if you want ) a starting time and final destination ( optional if you use stop at commands ) and service type and stop at commands if it needs it for pathing.

- Save your changes
- Select the portal and click on the add button
- Click on the train you created and it should disappear into the portal.
- Deselect the portal properties window
- repeat for any other train you want to add

If you want to remove a train from the portal for editing or deletion then

- Open the portal properties window
- select the train you want to remove
- click on the remove button
- move the cursor over the track and the train will be placed where you click ( just like when you create or move a consist )

That is exactly what I am doing, as Jim has explained in another thread.

I already have an AI service at this particular starting portal, which runs when it is supposed to.

So I have added it to the portal and as you said it disappears, but does not show until another AI service is being added to that portal.

Then I selected another loco and made it a service, giving it the same destination portal as the first one and saving on the way to playing the scenario got a "Send.....".

Then I did what I saw Jim doing and renamed the driver pullout service number to AI 1000, the next on to AI 1010, reflecting their set starting times and that did the trick ! ;)

O t t o

P.S.: That's what I thought ! Worked once and now renaming the service name defaults back to what RS decides to call it !

P.S. / P.S.: Cracked it ! You got to F2 save the intended for portal use AI service name AI 1010, etc, first, before doing anything else with it !

Somewhere in it's AI starting portals source code RS seems to be dealing only with service names which start with AI.

What a way to carry on !
