I just noticed this post at RSDL and thought it might be helpful.

John

Hi Everyone,
Here is a little tip im sure it will prove very useful in overcoming 'Scenario Failed to load' errors.
Add the following text to your shortcut icon for launching the Developer Edition of Rail Simulator:
-ShowDriverList
(for example: C:\Program Files\Rail Simulator\RailSimEditor.exe -ShowDriverList)
This will add a 'Driver' button inside the Driver Properties window. Clicking it will bring up a list of all Driver Icons and their names currently active in the scenario.
What this window allows you to do is check the pathing status of each of your trains. Pending / Failed / Successful being the three possible status reports. If you find a train is listed as Failed, this will indicate that a stage of its pathing instructions is not working and you will need to go to that train and find out what it is unable to do from the instructions you have given it.

Next, the little tick box next to each train allows you to activate and de-activate a train in the pathing calculations. If you are unable to find out why a train is not able to achieve its instructions, you can untick and 'switch off' all the other trains to see if, when alone on the route, the train is able to complete its pathing. If it is, you will then know that it is infact another train that is conflicting with the first and causing it to fail. You can then add each train back in one at a time and see at what point the first train shows as Failed again. Once ticked or unticked, click the 'Apply' button and then refresh the status of each train.

Finally, you have the ability to Jump to each of your trains from this window. Simply click on one of the Driver entries, and the Lon/Lat co-ordinates of that train will be entered into the Navigation window at the top. All you then need do is click the Jump button and you will be transported to that train to check its instruction icons.

So far I have been confronted with only two versions of "Scenario failed to load", the first one missing an item of rolling stock used by a consist and the second one after I changed tracks which were allocated to an AI path. The same could also apply to Standard scenario player train paths !

You having reminded me of the PLAY function in the scenario editor I can now test the running of all AI services speeded up, confirming that they are running on the correct tracks and checking that their running times do not clash with others on the same path.

One question re the above. Do all AI trains run at the same speed or does it depend on the length of the train and it's loads ?

As only one player service can run at any time and Freeroam player services can chose where they want to go I can not see that causing any problems.

One question re the above. Do all AI trains run at the same speed or does it depend on the length of the train and it's loads ?I believe the speed of the AI is based on the % you set for each leg between stop at or pick up instructions, the default being 75% of the line speed limits. I think I read that in the next patch the AI loads will affect performance ( or what I read was a known issue to be fixed so if it gets implemented we wont know until a list of fixes is released either with the patch or at some point before its release ).

Also so you know ( from a post made by RSadam today on RSDL forum ) the release of the next patch "should" be sometime in June but it obviously depends how the testing goes.

Thanks, John !

I noticed that the 7 average 50 wagons plus up to 8 locos AI trains running at the same time in the CAJON-OTTO are crawling along, forcing the frame rates down to an average of 15 p.s. and the scenario viewer refuses to run them, freezing RS ! Am I pushing it past it's limits ? ;)

Running too many of these in real US routes realistically sized consists as AI trains almost stops RS running the route ! :o

The BETA will be available later today !

Having run single locos as AI services in that route before, their speed was realistic.

It would therefor not do to use a mixture of AI services running at different speeds, some faster ones catching up with slower ones, unless the AI path signaling prevents them doing that !

Will have to wait for the MARK-2 patch until after my return from the States at the end of June ! :(

P.S.: What has happened to Jim ? Has not posted for a while and expected a response from him to your MARK-2 message ! Has not replied to my e-mails either.
